Hi guys

I also own a XINLING 250 buggy and I have recently increased the hp and torque by placing an additional filter between the connection of the filter box and the carburetor.

However, by searching the web I read that I can also increase the buggy's hp and torque by changing the ECU. Is that true and where from can I purchase an upgraded ECU for my buggy?

Any help much appreciated!

Yes no prob but I will be able to upload the pic by Monday because I am not on site at the moment.

Do you know If the supplier on http://www.scrappydogscooters.com/250cc ... mance.html ships to Europe? There are some really good stuff in there.

Also re; the CDIs on that website, which one is the most suitable for the XINLING 250cc and also how is it installed - does it need any specific tuning or something?

Thanks

That extra filter is more than likely choking the engine, check your spark plug to see how it looks. Ecu is the cdi im assuming, not sure but is your engine a CN250?

I am not quite sure what my engine is. What do you mean by chocking the engine? I have been using that 'trick' for like 6-7 months know and it still works fine. Without it its just too slow!

Thanks

How Does Adding An Additional Filter That Would Restrict More Air Flow Add HP?

Its almost like installing a smaller carb, if your buggy responds better to fuel enrichment remove the 2nd filter and look into bumping up the jet size. When in doubt check your spark plug color, you want a cardboard brown color for best A/F ratio.

I am not sure about this. I asked around people and I was told to try this and it worked. With just the original filter it was like there was coming too much air in the carcuretor and every time I pressed on the fuel pedal the buggy would not accelerate as it does know. I also changed the spark before doing this.

somethings not right with your setup. I bet you're not getting near the potential HP you should be getting. Sounds like it was running too lean and you're fattening it up by restricting air with extra filters. You need to check your jet sizing and make sure everything in the carb is clean and working properly. And what Devil Den was talking about was checking your plug to see if your running to fat or lean, not asking you if you changed your plug. I dont know who is giving you advice about adding extra filters but I would take their advice with a grain of salt and listen to some of the advice from these members here. they have seen and done it all.

That's why I signed up in here KearneyKarting, to get the advice of these members!

Can you please explain what you said above in simpler words or direct to a video which shows what I should do. in order to get everything in proper order.

Many thanks

You need a 2-stage foam filter with protective cover mounted directly to the carburetor. The elbows and filter box restrict your air intake. With that filter, the engine will inhale much more air and you will need increase the amount of fuel to keep things in balance. This is done by replacing the jets in the carburetor with larger ones.

Ok, you need to start with opening the bowl up off the bottom of the carb and see what size the 2 jets are. you just unscrew them out if it makes them easier to read. Also we need to know the elevation where you ride at is. (how many feet above sea level). I believe you have the cn 250 engine which is very common here and someone should be able to ge you real close on your jet sizing. You should ditch the whole airbox/filters you got and just run a UNI filter directly on the carb. Lots of info on here about doing that.

You need the UP-4200ST or UP-4200AST filter.

Hi guys,

I have one more question while I am waiting for the filter and protector to arrive.

I drive my buggy in off road areas out in the fields (many rocks etc) and very often while I am driving it's like the clutch disengages from the gear and the Drive gear just comes out to Neutral. Do you any idea why this would happen?

Thanks a lot
