 Post subject: hammer head ss250 low gear problem

I have a hammer head ss250 that won't move in low gear it just bangs real bad anyone ever run into this problem before

Chances are that the gears are bad. It may just be a linkage adjustment but doubt it. And yes to answer your question it is a comon problem. Folks new to these think that you can shift them on the fly and ending up messing them up. You can disconnect the linkage and try to shift it manually to see if it goes in gear better. If not then it's time to open the transmission. Both gears and the shift fork are about $70 plus what ever shipping is.

Thanks for the help guys Gears was what i was thinking I will be taking it apart soon Unfortunatly I am finding out the hard way some of the problems that seem to be comon wth these buggys hi and reverse work but hi sounds like it won't be long before it has the same problem

Its more common to have a shifter rod out of adjustment or someone that doesnt properly shift causing damage to gears than the gears wearing out quickly.

You can no longer buy the gears new. You will have to find a used set or take yours to a machine shop that works on or makes gears.
