Ok. This is going to kind of long but to the point. First let me say the videos are in the works. We need to convert them from high8 to pc. We took this buggy to Alto Texas for the holiday weekend and beat the hell out of this buggy. I'll just break it down in subjects.
1- Paint
POOR. Well joyner has a long ways to go in this department for the factory paint did not hold up well at all to the mud and water. The primer coat holds up well but the finish coats are to thin.
2- Suspension
Awesome!! We cleared many jumps and hills on the track at 20 to 30 mph with 5 to 6 foot air. The front bottomed out several times but adjustment on the springs took care of the problem but had to go lighter on the air. The rear held up perfect. The front seemed a little heavy but keep in mind waht we were jumping. Way to go JOYNER.
3- Frame
Superior!! With the hard landings and jumps the entire weekend we have yet to find a weld or crack. Now we did back into a tree and it did push the rear bumper in just slightly. Just stay away from the trees.
4- Engine
Great!! We had a few minor problems. The air filter stayed dirty so it hindered us a little and we advanced the timing about 2 degrees. We raced a polaris sporstman 500cc on the flats. The polaris did beat us off the line but thru 2 and 3rd the viper came out on top. At a 10mph roll it was all Joyner. I was able to climb several hills with impressive style. Several times to the point that the front tires did leave the ground. I stayed in the throtle and the tires keep digging and up the hill i went followed by the rangers and the big 4x4's. I got alot cheers and no boo's. I will admit i did get a little tense several times but a bud light took care of that problem.
5- Transmission
Good!! It holds up real well with the engine. 1st,2nd,3rd are great but 4th seemed a little to high but worth it. The biggest problem is the tight shift pattern. I myself missed a gear or 2 several times. The wives really had a harder problem with it. The wives need the automatics.
6-Tires
Good!! Since we were in the mud and water they held up fine with plenty of traction. We did cut 2 tires over the weekend. For us we need a better ply rated tire.
7- Brakes
Excellent!!! Great stopping power. Our biggest problem was keeping the mud cleaned out from the rotors and calipers to prevent from tearing them up.
8-Final
We drove this in the mud behind the jeeps, 4x4, and utv's. We went thru the mud to the point it came up thru the holes in the floorboards. It was amazing. We did get high centered 1 time and had to be winched out. We had people acualltly follow us to wait for us to stop to ask what the thing was. This was one of the most dependable machines we have taken out in a long time. The mirrors stand to us some improvement as well as the seat height ( need to be raised 3inches ) but offer a great ride. Fenders are a must !! A grap handle for the passanger would be a nice feature to. ( HEY JOYNER ) Lights are bright but the top lights need to be more adjustable. For the money you get what you pay for. MONEY WELL SPENT ! GREAT MACHINE......I bought out the rest of the guys will make this a new project. Going to get the wife a new 250 from GLADE when they make thier mind up on the color.
Great review. Do you have any pics? I thought Joyner did away with the 650 Viper after 06. The 07 brochure doesnt list it and at shows all I have seen were 800's.
