I just bought a (new 2006) polaris outlaw 500 after breaking it in I`m going to disassemble it to build my new buggy. Some of my friends think I`m crazy but I want a new atv so all parts will be new and matched to work together. Atv is 48"wide and only 400lbs. It has a great independent rear suspenion, which has a potential of 15" of travel. It also has reverse built in. I`m going to buy a "Rekluse z start" clutch so there will be no need for a clutch petal on the buggy. My target size will be 50"W 94"L ?"H 500lbs or less. The complete front end will be used as is, The rear will need only minor mods. The engine is said to have 50 hp and tons of torque, let me tell you this thing will MOVE!! Alot of work ahead but in the end it will be worth it. I`m gong this weekend to the supply house to get my steel tube I`ll post pics as the build starts and progresses. Let me know what u guys think about this idea, hope not all here thinks I`m crazy. even tho I am craZy HAH!
I think your crayze
But hay its your money. Not like they only made 500 outlaws or anything

Sounds like a cool idea. I am skeptical about your being able to keep the weight down to 500lbs. I also have thought about buying a powerful quad and doing the same thing. What size tubing are you going to use? Take lots of pictures and keep us posted. _________________ Randy

I changed my mind on the RZR due to wieght almost 1000lbs, cost 11,300 and its not quite a buggy. I`m using 1" tubing for the frame. I`m going to build it without plans I have a good idea in my head where I want to go. Keeping the seat low and the buggy not to long or wide, trails around my house are small. The suspension on the outlaw will be the KEY. I`ve never seen anyother atv suspenion less than 50" with as much travel in rear.(and believe me I`ve looked) The hardest part will be the first cut on the frame of the new atv. HAH!
now thats going to be cool, you have just about evething you need from the quad, great idea and it will most likely be cheaper than the rzr _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything

You should make it low profile so it will look good with the 50" wide part. I made mine a little to tall for a 50" wheel base to look great on it but hay it have plenty of head room. _________________ Work in progress
