Jim what happened that you need limit straps? Blow a CV?

No problem with cv's and I keep a check on them. There still like new even after what I put this buggy through.

I put limit straps on because I did not like the clunk they made when they were fully extended and reached the end of there travel, mostly when trail riding on rough terrain.

So, What pressures should the shocks be at?
I checked the fronts and one was 118 and the other was 99.
The manual says .8MP and I tried to find an online conversion for this (to PSI) to no avail.
Thanks,
Terrance

.8 Megapascals is about 116 PSI. Increaseing the pressure from there will not affect the damping at all. At most, it might provide a little bottoming resistance, but at the expense of risking blowing the seals out. From what I've heard, these shocks are welded together which makes them non-rebuildable. My only suggestion for better damping would be to try some really thick oil. I think Leenanj tried some thicker shock oil but didn't see much improvement. If you wanted to experiment, it wouldn't hurt anything to try some REALLY thick stuff like synthetic 80/90wt gear oil. If you don't like the results, you can always go back to regular shock oil. I would try it in the back first, since it has the most weight and requires more damping. If you wanted to give it a try, I could walk you through the steps of changing the oil through the schrader valve.

I noticed that there is a post cat O2 sensor, It won't create any issues if I gut thte cat out?
Thanks,

I just removed the cat and muffler, not the header, from the buggy and using any long object start chopping away until you break up the catalyst and it all falls out.

It does run better without it IMO but add a spark arrestor to the muffler if you ride in a fire prone area.

I had a screen from an old sport quad muffler that I cut to size. Just removed the end cap off the muffler and put in in between.

On the shocks I tried different oil and pressure settings and nothing made much difference. The stock air pressure is about 90lbs. Don't drop the air pressure to low or you will blow the seal.
There not the best of shocks and I found out soon that they needed limit straps installed.

It made no difference, I experimented and disconnected the aft oxygen sensor and it still ran good.

I don't think the computer is making use of it at all.

On a auto if the aft sensor did not see a cleaner burn than the pre sensor it would turn on the check engine light that we don't have.

I have put about 500 miles on since I gutted the catalyst at it runs good...

so after reading what i believe was all of the after market & modifying, so far i only seen one person with a turbo? other than that is this something to stay away from? how about the super charger I saw some thing last night a dude makes them out of NM. i believe he put it in the 1600. Anyways looking to do something because i was really let down on my first trip to the sand @ Dumont dunes ride is nice enough but other than 2nd gear the rest , I might as well not had a 3rd and if i needed to down shift into 1st, well I had better already been turning down hill! I am not completely disgusted. I really need MORE POWER and hopefully i found some help here on my first ever forum...by the way my best friend has one also...thanks for the good reading so far

Burningas - I'm assuming that you have the 1100 Joyner - mine did OK in the sand as long as I didn't attempt really long 40 degree+ hills. You're right, if you have to shift down to 1st, you're all done.
My turbo is just about perfect now, and the buggy will climb anything I point it at. If you spend most of your time in the sand, a turbo is the way to go.
I don't know how or where a supercharger could be installed in one of these buggies - it would be interesting.

Jaxn- did you get a dyno done on your rail since the turbo install? is there any sand dune that you cant climb? for the most part i only will be driving in the sand...I simply love it! currently though it is almost embarrassing out there. my second trip out (Thanksgiving) I completely melted the 50 amp fuse directly off the + side of the battery.... I have added a lit whip for night driving other than that just the stock lights were on. I was using all six of them. Have you or anybody else ran into this problem? How do you tell if it is a 07 or 08? i cant find anything in the owners manual? any difference in the two?

West coast- what the hell did you so to the suspension? looks monsterous...whats the deal with that? where do you primarily ride? must have made a huge difference in the ride...was it worth it? thanks for the copy of the dyno report...gives me something to look forward to..what is the boost you added?

thanks for your time
