My nine year old daughter did the same thing on a much smaller hill, scared the bejesus out of her she hit the front drivers tire so hard it knocked the bead off, Scared her in to driving a lot more sensibly. Some times the hard lessons are the best ones cause she sure wouldn't listen to Dad when I told her to slow down.

Glad you and the Mrs. are not hurt. Better the buggy beat up and broken than you two. Good attitude about the repair on your end. It's just nuts and bolts, and makes for a good posting on BuggyNews.
You and the wifey were wearing helmets,,,,,,,,right Question

Well, that will be something you can tell the grandkids!

Glad you guys are okay... let's not try to do that again. Smile More shallow jumps next time. Smile

Yes, nose dives are common here. With proper suspension setups they should be less common. I guess we know now that the GTR is not immune to these either.

How has the kart been for you otherwise? Everything still running after this?

Brutal! Shocked
Did your LR CV cup pop out of the gearbox or did something break? Also in the pic showing the shock angle--what's misaligned? Did the upper mount move or did the A-arms bend?

I was thinking about your jump. If your numbers are close you really nailed the "worst-case scenario". I don't know what the wheelbase is of the GTR250 but the overall length is just over 7' so I'll wager the buggy barely fit on the ramp of that jump. Hitting that incline at 30mph probably fully compressed your springs and a moment later they unloaded. Your rear springs, if not damped by some very sweet shocks (not your typical stock units), gave your buggy a nice *kick* at the top of the jump and pitched your nose over.

A 4 1/2 foot jump may be doable but you need a much longer ramp for the suspension to recover before going airborn.

Glad you guys are OK!
Those flips tend to hurt a bit huh! Rolling Eyes
At least the buggy doesn't look like it will be too hard to fix.
Check the radiator good. It tends to get hit by the cargo rack in those endos!

Definute on the helmets but my wife didn't have her chin strap on. It shot off her head. It will be tigh from now on.

Worst case senerio is right, after reading your post I really understand why the rear end went so far up and over. I have it figured out how Im going to reweld the frame I just need to find the right stuff for it. Im going to make "T" bracketts for all the welds on the rack and weld them in. And just bend the rack out. Not the cart back down where it splits between the engine compartment and the cab. I have to move the rack back about 4 1/4 inches. Some one jacked my neghbers welder (probly the guy he borrowed it from) So Im looking to farm the work out. Sad

"Did your LR CV cup pop out of the gearbox or did something break? Also in the pic showing the shock angle--what's misaligned? Did the upper mount move or did the A-arms bend?"

The misalignement can be seen in the first pick with the 2 shots side by side, the suspencion is suposed to be straight up. the upper mount moved with the rack. GTR's are chain drive the shaft snapped behind the cup that goes to the ..."A arm shaft" (? not sure what you call it).

I plan on cutting the rack across the top and pulling it back then just adding the lenght to the "T" bracketts I build.

I feel ya on the endo. Did one myself 2 weeks ago. One thing I'll give the china buggies, the roll cage isn't just for looks. A quick bending adjustment and mine almost looks normal. Then again I lucked out I just flipped straight forward. Glad to hear everyone got out alive, and remember it can be rebuilt stronger, and faster, and tougher. Twisted Evil

Wow! Two adults traveling at that speed going off a jump that high! I'm impressed with the structural integrity of that buggy. Is the CV busted or did the suspension flex so much it flew out?

I would have had to change my Astronaut Underwear after that event!!!

Glad everyone is ok...
