I was looking for a filter for my sand spider and did a cross check on the numbers posted. The only one i could find was a KN 303 here in the UK. This filter has a 20 X 1.5 metric thread and the buggy has a 3/4 X 16 TPI thread. After checking the rest listed they all seem to have the wrong thread size.
I used this a cross reference chart at http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/FilterXRef.html.
I am still not sure of the correct fitment so any info would be good

Oops, my bad, that was a list of oil filters for my Kawasaki 700 ATV. You are correct, those would have a different thread.
I should delete that post as not to confuse anybody.

The Super Tech 4967, Fram 4967 and Wix 51394 fit the 650SS as should any Xreference to these. The WIX seems to be a better filter than the other two. NAPA usually carries all three of these at our local store.
When I spoke to Joyner's parts dept they told me there was no way the oil filter had those threads on it. This was while I was reading the size from the filter. The one they reccomended wouldn't even come close. They were not helpful at all. Very good at talking down to someone but no help.
You can also go onling and look at the specs for various oil filter companys. Type in thread size and all that size will be shown. Some will even have all the dimensions of a filter on their web page.
I have a 2008 Sand Spider; I tried the Fram 4967, the Wix 51394 and the Napa Gold 1394; all of them are about 1/2" to tall to fit the buggy. After about 20 minutes spent in an auto parts store opening filter boxes the only one I found that fits (and it has been installed on my buggy now) is the Mobile M1-108. The Mobile filter fits perfectly, has the same amount of holes in the filter and measures up identicle.
I don't know if earlier 650 spiders had a little more room that allows the other filter to work but if you have a 2008 spider I would just recommend hunting down the Mobile M1-108.
Thanks for the tip on the mobile M1-108 filter. The dealer in AZ (Thunder or Team Joyner) told me it had to be STP 2808 it wasn’t even close way to long. Seems like there not very familiar with their own product. _________________ 2008 SANDSPIDER 650

It's sad isn't it that the factory does not know some of the parts that work on these. Maybe there should be a unique forum here where users can post what parts they have found that fit/work for these (and all) buggies, a one-stop-shop forum, if you will, that we can all find part numbers to aftermarket spark plugs, filters, belts, brake shoes, and all the other little things that get replaced on these. Just an idea though; we can always search the forum and come up with some stuff if it has been posted.
