Post subject: Baddest Buggy in all the land!
PostPosted: Tue May 30, 2006 11:47 am
I can now say that I have the baddest buggy in all the land! Well, at least in all the land at Wayne National Forest, OH where trails are limited to 50". I have a Baja Dune 150. I was worried that the front wheels would not make it over the 50" wide bridges. I had to run one front tire up on the side board to get accross. The front tires are 54" wide. Everything else is less than 50".

Everyone wanted to check it out. Everyone nodded and waved as I went by. I had to give alot of rides. I had to sneak away to ride it by myself.

The ATV shocks were awesome! Bombardier DS650 ATV front shocks provide 12" of travel up front. Polaris 700 rear shocks provide nearly 10" of travel in the rear. The bottom of the frame sits 12" off the ground. Shocks are by far the most important upgrade. It does no good to have tons of power, when you can't handle the speed over bumps.

I have upgraded the following in order of performance gain (best first);

Bombardier DS650 ATV front shocks and adjust A arms,
Polaris 700 rear shocks,
Maxxis RAZR2 21x7-10 front tires on Douglas aluminum rims,
Honda 250EX front fenders,
Polaris rear fenders,
Racing seat belt,
drilled rollers and shimmed clutch spring,
K&N air filter mouted with rubber plumbing adapter,
Pipe and silencer from Awesome Buggy (required bending pipe to clear the engine frame, and shimming the silencer mount to clear the clutch),
CDI, wire, coil, 135 jet,

I can now go about 40mph and climb pretty big hills on ATV trails marked difficult. It performed as good, or better than my friends' Kawasaki Mules. It is still not as fast as my old Honda TRX250X, but handles better and carries my 4 1/2 year old son with me safely.

Does look awsome. Im thinking of making new a arms for my buggy and getting new shocks for it as well. Like your air box set up. USING WHAT YOU HAVE.

:?: :?: I hope you mean the mud or that you are just trying to be funny.

Leony3232- Great job. Sounds like you've done this stuff before. The buggy looks great. I've liked those Dunes from the start, and hearing what you did to yours, I love it even more. Keep up the good work.

I am resisting getting personal! Explain what you don't like, and show pictures of what you can do better!
