Yes.. assuming your scale goes up high enough (rear ends can be heavy) you can do it this way. Just subtract off for the 2x4 weight each time.

Well it took a month and two days but the Adventure Buggy 250 finally arrived today. All I can say is WOW!! The frame is built like a tank, the upper and lower A-arms are square tubular steel, gussets everywhere, and gobs of ground clearance! The reverse gearbox support bracket looks like sandmans, though it's not anodized. I'll have to get some close ups and post. I'm missing a couple of bolts and a few still need to be tightened so I'd say it's 99 percent complete. I took it for a couple of laps around the dealership this evening and it's FAST! (wait till the boss finds it in the showroom in the morning) I'm sure the speedometer is lying to me, but it hit 60 in the parking lot after about 250 yards, though it felt more like 40. Issues I need to deal with are
Popping when letting off after full throttle, (Lean?) (no mods)
Headlights may be improperly wired, one on high beam, the other on low??
Annoying beeping out of speedo unit when turn signals are on. gotta find the right wire to cut
look into relocating seats. Looks like I can pick up anothe inch or so of leg room.
Have to find out how the speedo works. There is a pick up mounted by the sprocket, and the sprocket has 4 holes drilled that pass by the pickup. 2 of the hole appear to have a different metal (magnet?) in them. They are next to each other, not diagonal, so maybe that's why the speedos off? perhaps they just aren't drilled as deep.
Seat belts seem to be short.

I found out today that IMSeven got one of the last three Adventure 250 buggies that were left in this country. I called Jehm Powersports, the distributor, and the person was very kind to explain what was going on. IMSeven was waiting a fair amount of time, and Jehm went out of their way to locate a dealer that had one in stock, that being Karts Are Us. Karts Are Us shipped the already built buggy to New York, which was a good thing, so good job to Karts Are Us. The company, that being Jehm, has cleared EPA for the 250 2R, so it is just a matter of getting them on the boat in China, and getting them to the US, and on to Michigan. I'm thinking the time to accomplish this is about five weeks. I also found out that the main jet size in these buggies is a 118, with the pilot jet being a 50. I know there are a bunch of these on order, so hopefully this will comfort those who have been waiting, that there is hopefully an end in site. _________________ Dan Alustiza

I think this buggy is an 05 which is odd since the dealer claims to have had it only a few weeks. I'm basing this on the VIN number. It's 17 digits, and assuming it works like a car VIN the 8th digit from the right indicates the model year. In this case it's a 5. Perhaps somebody who knows what year there buggy is could look at their VIN and see if this holds true in the buggy world. 2000 models and older would be letters. Y=2000, X=1999, W=1998 etc. This kart is loud! I suspect it has little or no baffling inside. I started to head into the woods but the enviormental police were patroling so I didn't get far. The kart felt very bouncy. I'm running 5psi and the shocks are on the second softest setting. Guess I'll try 4psi and take the shocks to a softer setting. I think this thing is going to rip. When I drove it down the street with my son and I in it, (combined weight about 440lbs it took right off and accelerated nicely and the speed again hit 60. My neighbor said it looked like 50. I've got a couple of cops live in the neighborhood, maybe I can get one of them to clock me with the radar gun! I'm going to have to think about a quieter pipe, there is a lot to be said for stealth mode, and it cuts down on complaints. Pictures and measurements to follow. When I spoke with the person at Jehm, I got the impression that the kart that you got is in fact a 2005, as you got one of three of the last ones, and they were not EPA cleared, as they are 2005's, and they were in the country prior to the Jan 2006 deadline. You should feel lucky, as you did'nt have to wait for the 2006, and I don't think there will be much difference in the kart itself. _________________ Dan Alustiza

buggy 003.jpg: 4 Time(s) Viewed, 588.62 KB The stock filter didn't come with an oiled prefilter so I got one at the hardware and modified it. I suspect replacement filters are expensive. I know the one for my 125 is 50 bucks, all the more reason to go uni or K&N!
Thank you for the picture of the air box setup, as I have been wondering how it looks. If you decide to stick with that airbox, and maybe use a better filter, you may wish to look at the TPI airbox valve that www.thunderproducts.com has for sale. It permits a user to open or restrict the airflow, which can come in handy in regards to altitude, and temperature. _________________ Dan Alustiza

I don't really have a problem with it being an 05, was just pointing it out. Thought it odd that the dealer said she only had it a few weeks, but Jehm could have had it in a warehouse for sometime before she got it. I suppose I might even be better off, depending on what modifications they had to make to the engine to get it certified. While I haven't get had it out in the woods I'm expecting it to do well. It sounds powerful even at idle. I ran it up the ramps into the back of an F250 4x4 with no effort. Eased it up till the rear wheels were on the ramp, gave it a little gas, and it went up easy. The Adventure buggy frame appears to be quite strong. The main frame is 1 1/4 inch tube (manufacturer claims 12 gauge) with a couple of 1 inch cross pieces in the front end that the storage rack hangs from.
