I want to thank everyone that took the time to come to the Buggy Rally Chat tonight. By the numbers on the poll, we have a popular vote for DP in Ga, but by the needs of the folks coming a long distance to stay in a location for a weekend (and when I say long distance, I'm talking 1000 plus miles) it has become apparant to myself and the other moderators on here, as well as some of the members that were in chat with us tonight that a location with ample supply of rooms and community structure for comfort is going to be a major key for making this work. We are going to be asking industry leaders to come join us for a weekend, and there will be family and guests that will appreciate something other than camping or rustic cabins. With that in mind, I made an administrative decission to select Paddy's Bluff as our location for the first BuggyNews Buggy Rally in 2006. A few other reasons why this location was choosen: The owner has specifically shown interest in us being there and has even arranged a tour with one of our members to check the trail system out, at least one chamber of commerce in the area has shown interest in helping with the event, and we also have a heard very positive reviews of the site from one of the elder members who has since gone missing (Kell) KELL, where the heck are you buddy!!??!!
I appreciate the votes that came in for the Ga location. And while looking at those votes I can see a lot are coming from the Florida, Ga and Carolina areas. I'm also concerned that we keep the event more central to the rest of the US, which is something that I have been saying and had been brought up from the very start when we first considered a Rally in a much earlier thread. Western Kentuckey, I think, also broadens the reach that the rally can stretch out to. People in Northern and Western states that couldn't make Ga, could make Ky... While the Ky area is also not out of reach to the Ga/Carolina residents.
So finally... after an hour of spinning the wheel around we started to talk about possible dates. I'm concerned with trying to rush things too quickly, as a lot of time, planning and phone calls will have to be made to get stuff rolling with this. April was brought up as a possible month, but there are TONS of major holidays, and many school systems have a week off that month which could put a wrench into things. Finally we came up with May 5,6, and 7 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) as a good set of dates for us. This should give us time, and also miss the major holidays (Easter Palm Sunday are before, and Mother's day is after).
With all of this decided, hopefully some real planning can now take place and we can get done what we really want to get done... have an awesome get together and get down and dirty!
Let's reply here if you plan on attending. This thread will be used for directions, pictures and video of Paddys, and organization ideas of our event.

I see from mapquest that this place is a stone's throw from Paducah, KY. My wife is a quilter & that place is a quilters mecca of sorts. I know where she'll be part of the day _________________ _________________

There appears to be a lot of neat stuff that families can do down there if they wish. Not all will want to spend the entire time in the woods all weekend, and that is fine.

You can count me in. I'll bring the wife, kids, & a couple of buggies from Santa.
I think you've made the right decision (of course I am a little biased since its so close). Turkey Bay's location would have been good also, but there isn't much in the way of accomodations - I think there is fresh water available, but I seem to remember Port-O-Jons as the only place to hunker down (besides the woods). Awesome place for off-roading though. Turkey also has the lake right there for swimming, boating, or washin off the ATVs. I'm excited about getting to Paddy's Bluff - never been there. _________________ Dazon 150 Sgl, 12g rollers, UNI, White Bros exhaust, 145 jet, 37T sprocket
