Looks like one of the few people in NY. Seems like there's never anyone in NY on ANY of the off road related boards I stumble across.
Oh well, at least there seems to be more ATV than truck/jeep people around. Don't have a buggy yet, but have wanted one for a long time and this site will keep me busy for a while!
PiercedTiger, there's quite a few members from New York. IM4Seven is a really active member from the Albany area.
The Northeast Buggy members are having a ride this next weekend (November 10th and 11th) at EMR in New Milford, PA. It's a great weekend... Check out the places to ride area or email me at chris@dierkens.com for more info...
Welcome to the map...

Thanks! I saw that, but didn't read the whole thread to see what date was decided on.
I don't have a buggy yet, but I'd like to get one soon. Have some things I need to sort out first. Some things I like to pay down first (house, truck) and I need to find another job. I'm hoping once that happens I'll be able to get into it. Kinda want to find out where I can go before I get too far along as well. I bought a 4x4 truck and started building it up to offroad only to find out there aren't many trails around here, and most of the "good" places were shut down after 9/11.
I've seen a lot of people on myspace and other sites that race atvs so I figured maybe there'd be more open to that type of vehicle. And that was before I stumbled across this site so I just need to track those places down now!
Thanks ! You all have sure helped me a lot, to figure out what i was gona buy! My wife & I & 5 sons live/farm in eastern Washington - State (the evergreen state), & trust me its not all evergreen trees! some sand dunes(Juniper forest), still a lit'l desert left to ride, some massive hill climbs; (cant devulge location of), along the mighty Columbia River, & we got a real cool back pasture M/X track. I & my boys have rode m/x all our lives, even my wife rides some. Anyway Sorry rambling on; even tho i only can type w/two fingers, & i'm sittting @ my computer cause my lovely wife wont let me do any farm work - due to surgery a few days ago.
To the point... I just bought a Carter (Talon) GSR150R2 (2 seats), found a local dealer; rather than internet, Pd. $3700 tho, but i think brick & mortar is best. This cart has a 6CTRXO.150 engine & even after much searching I cant find out much about this eng, ( eng side case has Carter stamped on it) claims 17 -18 Hp stock. I know I will want to mod. it up some, only has a 24 mm carb & i'm not sure what main jet. I cant even get on the Carterbro.com site, (Flash wont install on this computer)
Any body have one of these motors, or got advise on maybe upsizing carb., intake, etc. ??? Oh & again thanks BuggyNews, I probably wont have a lot of time to be a very active member but i sure like having been able to check in for some good advise.
Thanks,
Welcome to BuggyNews.
Not Familiar with this particulat motor you are talking about. Is this the new SYM motor? If this 150 really does put out 17 or 18 horsepower, that would be a good thing! Sorry to hear of your surgery. Keep us posted _________________ DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys and gals, I am new to this and a great forum it is. I live in Connecticut and am really glad to see that this sport is as big as it is in this area. Idon't know about here in CT.But Mass. is fine.
I used to race dwarfs at Whipcity but because of a bout with cancer I had to quit. This surely looks like something I'll be able to do (strength wise) which means I can rest and watch when I need to. I am going to build a buggy ground up and am using a 900cc honda. So any suggestions, direction and how to's would be great. Thanx much Dusty _________________ It may not be custom, but it works, fast dosen't have to look custom.
Good morning all, I cant seem to find link to "Add my pin to map"
Also, we had so much fun w/GSR150 I went & bought its big brother GTR250. The 150 has had zero issues ! (has about 100 miles so far), except emergency brake not holding, out of adj. on cable threads, have had to tighten bolts etc. but been an excellent ride (oh ya my youngest son says he has problem with getting dirt in his teeth! ( too much grinning ).
GTR250 fired up & ran fine during breakin, landed hard off jump & bottomed out, bent rear chain/brake guard up into chain a lit'l, but easy fix w/pry bar. To shop for service, found drive chain way tight, backed off, which requires sliding eng.forward ( i'm gona build a bracket w/all thread adj. bolt extending out the back of frame, to make adjusting chain much more user friendly ). Also changed eng. oil & while up on jack stands had son run it in gear to lube the chain, no problem; But, now it has a "driven gearbox" noise ! not growly, but kind of a clicking noise ? Gear box shaft has no case bearing movement (as in bad bearing from chain too tite), kinda puzzled as it did not have this noise prior to service & definetly seems to be coming from final gearbox area (same noise in Forw or Rev). My riding day not happening as I am gona take it back to local dealer to have a look,(still w/in warranty period-60 days on cart & 2 years on engine), but my son put another 30-40 miles on the 150. Any one have any sugesstions ?
Thanks, Team Farm
Great site, just bought ST plans from Badland, gathering up info to hopefully build a great running and handling buggy. Can't find a map. _________________ Have a big Time
