I put a set of blaster shocks on the back of my Dune 150 on saturday. Some trails, some hills, riding smooth then I got to one bumpy hill and my chain popped off for the first time ever. I put it back on and tightened up the tension a bit and it seemed fine. Did some more riding without a problem.
On sunday I went up the same hill and the chain popped off again. I got the chain back on the sprocket, went the rest of the way up the hill and at the top this time the master link snapped.
I was able to salvage the day with a master link from another 4 wheeler but at the end even that came apart( because it wasn't the right fit) I was not anywhere near my house so I did not have the right spare chain and links.
I have extra chain and master links at home which will work.

I want to know is this a common problem when you change suspension? I never had a chain pop off with the stock shocks. Is there a setting my shocks should be on? I don't want to go to soft because the gas tank will go to low on big bumps and will smack the petcock off the tank like I did in the past. Thanks, Billy

My chain has never popped off, and I have blaster shocks on the rear. As for the gas tank I used all-thread and 1/2" emt to solve that problem.

The engine, trans & axle are all solid-mounted to the swingarm so they all move together. The shock has nothing to do with chain alignment and tension.

Chain tension should be tight enough to take out the sag and no more. Check the welded tab on the back bar of the swingarm that your adjuster goes through to see if it's cracked.

Also the motor mount/gear case for cracks.also check the front motor mounts. When chain is correct pusn on it see if it tilts the engine to one side.
