My son Blade 70 KT is running very sluggish. Biggest problem is it starts just fine but it will not acelerate. Regardless of how much throttle we give it at the carberator. Also can anyone help me to adjust the brake on this vehicle. I am as far from a mechanic as possible.
on the brake adjust the cable on both ends so it will pull the small lever more,
have you tried to adjust the shifetr cabel? it might not be going in gear fully _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything

ok, remove the air cleaner, have someone press the throttle and watch and see how far up the black or silver piece behind the choke butterfly moves. make sure the choke is off ( butterfly open )
does it rev up with the air cleaner off? _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything

Did this problem just start? Has it ran correctly in the past?Does the throttle cable move back and forth with the pedal at the pedal? Does it die or just idle when you push the pedal? _________________ Steele's Powersports

Bige I will try that when I get home from work tonight. Steelbilly, the just idling problem began a couple of days ago. My son has had this buggy since Xmas 07'. It does not die at idle, it just putt putt putts. In fact everything seems almost perfect until you get ready to go. Don't get me wrong thios machine has always been fickle compared to my 150. The 150 starts and goes everytime you turn the key. The only issues I have had with that machine were the ground on one of the headlights was never connected at the factory, an easy fix, and two or three times times it has not shifted from forward to reverse or vice versa imediately.
On the other hand the 70 KT is the most fickle machine with regard to starting. First let me say It is not Stewart's fault. I had to buy the machine from him directly because there are dealers in Eastern NC. I really would like to take this machine to a professianal and have them make it absolutley perfect so it runs without any issues.
The issues are:
To start vehicle you must always charge the starting battery as it constantly drains if sits for four or five days.
You must pump gas ten times with choke fully out and hold the choke open as it will close on its own accord. You must do this for 4 or 5 minutes and occasionally rev the engine to get it warmed up enough to stay running.
Steering even with locktite the set screws come loose and steering becomes very difficult.
Brakes do not engage.
Motor only idles.
I am not even close to a mechanic. I just want my son's vehicle to rin as well as mine.
well, I sell the Blades also, and I have had to change almost evry stator in them. so thats probably why the battery wont stay charged. the choke cable can be adjusted some at the carb end by tightening the clamp a little more.
the carbs are a pain sometimes. there are two screws on the side, one is the idle and the other one is air fuel mixture. they are very finki _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything

I have a 70KT too purchased around the same time. Hard to start and battery is always dead. I use a trickle charger leading up to the weekend and once it gets going its fine. Recently I started dipping the spark plug in gasoline and it fires up right away. Once it gets going I have all the kids in the neighborhood lining up for a turn. I have not had any idling issues to speak of. After losing the steering column screws, I followed the advice of a post on BN that recommended a slightly larger screw from the hardware store. Hasn't budged since.
I've been extremely satisfied with the product (especially having low gear) and service and enjoy the occasional challenge as I am not mechanically inclined.
BIGE - do you have stator in stock or should I order from Stu. _________________ mattman
