Hello

everyone nice to meet all of you.

Well I just picked up a Twister Hammerhead 150cc buggy. Well it runs but it is missing the air cleaner assembly. (where can I get one?)But the big problem is to get it started you have to pump the gas alot, and you need to hold the brake on because you have to keep feathering the gas to keep it running. when you let off the gas it will quit. If you are able to get it warmed up by playing this game not fun game, it will run and idle, not until. Also the is a "connection" on the intake manifold, what is it? The guy plugged it, should it be plugged? One more thing, If you put your hand over where the air cleaner assembly goes and you crank the buggy over your hand will get covered in gas, I don't think it is suppose to blow the gas out there. Any help would be great.

welcome to buggynews, what year is your twister?

the connection on the rubber intake is for vacumn, there should be a hose going from the intake to a 3 way tee, from there one will go to the bottom of the fuel valve ( if it still has the vacumn style ) the other will go to the passenger side off the carb.

sounds like the by stater valve (choke ) is not working, its on the drivers side of the carb and is black with 2 wires going to it.

Welcome to BuggyNews! Very Happy
I totally agree with BIGE regarding your bysterter valve/choke. If thats the case, I would get rid of it all together and install a manuel choke conversion.

Hey fella's thanks for the welcome.

I have no Idea what year it is. Did not have any paper work at all on it, had to do alot of research t figure out anything about it. I don't think I have the "tee" connection and tat is why he blocked that on the intake. where can I buy a replacement choke? How do I convert it to manual choke if I were to?

Sorry for all the questions, but I do not know much at all about this buggy at all. I just want to get it to run without it being a battle.

Can some one point out the mixture screw and idle screw?

Also from all the way it howmany turns shoudl the mixture screw be out?

Somthing else I really need is a revesre cable, mine snapped. Idea's

Thanks guys

oke well I cleaned everything I coudl up check wires. ocnnections, plug. Took carb off cleaned it up and out best I could.

I can get the thing running and adjusted the idle to keep it running. Well seems like something is sticking somewhere because when it is started it will idle high then go down and idle like "I think it should" but when you touch the gas it will go back up and stay there, somtimes it goes down and sometimes not.

Also when runing the thing smokes out blueish smoke when you give it the gas, causes? I notice alot of it is coming from a hose hanging on the end of the motor next to where the spark plug is.

there is a hose that comes off the valve cover. its a crankcase breather hose that connects to the air box. if you do not have the air box run the hose down toward the back of the engine.

get a piece of 1 1/2 sink drain pipe and a 1 1/4 rubber coupler and a uni or k&n air filter and put on it. need to get a small piece og hose and connect from the brass barb on the intake to the barb on the passenger side of the carb.

remove the choke from the carb, measure the distance from the top to the end of the needle. connect 12 volts to it for 5-10 minutes, remeasure it

Alright I will get my self a filter made up right off.

I have had the choke off cleaned it up. I think I read it should have about 5ohms of resistance, I have right around 7 ohms.

The choke is like on a spring when it is off it seems to be all the way out. I will try it though with the 12v, Where can I buy another choke? and the uni air filter?

Thanks

I do not know the year, (anyway I can figure it out) I have nor got any paper work, and the guy I got it from new nothing about it.

It is a Twister Hammerhead though 150cc (I'm pretty sure) It is two seater and red. In great shape, Just few things here and there, and I picked it up for next to nothing so I can't complain to awful much. But it needs air filter assembly, and possably a new Carb, and I am pretty sure the choke is not working.

You can get it started by pumping the gas, once started will idle high ( I had to play with idle and mixture screw to get it to idle) but then will drop off and idle like it is supose to, but when throttle is press will go back up, it is like something possably in the carb is sticking? All in all something is not right.

I have not seen one run properly before so I do nto know what to look for. Seems awful whimpy though from take off.

Smokes alot too when you give it the gas.

So any and all idea's and help is geatly appriciated.

I thinking just buy new carb, and air filter assmebly unit and go from there, but if I do not have to I woudl rather not.

I'll get you pics if you think that may help at all.

Thank you all so so much.
