| < Off Road Go Kart & Mini Buggy Discussion ~ I messed up my bearings. Please help. |

i decided to open up the housing in the rear, and check on the bearings. as i started to unbolt it, water started pouring out. both dust seals had lots of water and so did the bearing itself. so i tried to knock out the bering. i hit it from the back, and i guess it smashed in the rear dust seal and is resticting the bearing.
i coulndnt even get the bearing out.
What do i do?

in this one, see how much lower the dust seal is. it should be (and was level with the housing)

Put it in the freezer overnight and try to knock it out tomorrow. The cold will.
Wait, Just thought about this. if you put the whole thing in the freezer the entire piece will shrink...
You should be able to knock that out. I have used a heavy piece of pipethat fits inside and hit it to get em out. Sorry I am not being much help... Anybody?

I've got you covered on this one. Looks like a Carter Brothers buggy. I replaced mine and used a better sealed bearing from a local bearing supplier. You can get the outer seal from NAPA but the inner will have to come from Carter. Use a socket that fits the bearing, place the housing over a vise or pipe that just touches the outer sides of the housing and will allow the bearing to pass by. Hit the socket with the hammer, it will come out that way.
Here is the Koyo bearing part #: 6206-2RDC3 Cost $11.00 each
Here is the NAPA seal #: 11608 Cost $8.30 each
Carter Bros. inner seal #: 5393008 Cost $2.75 each
I bought the bearings at Applied Industrial Technologies, it is is a bearing they have it or can get it. If you don't have a part # like I did the measure it and find the right one. I opted for the double sealed one since mud got in my bearing also. Now it is sealed twice on each side. The bearing is made in Japan too, not China.

ajbkid was the bearings bad if not i wouldn't worry about it,just clean them up good in some gold i mean gas or kerosene then repack them good with marine type grease like is used on boat trailers.make sure when you repack them you force the grease down in the ball bearings good you will hear the grease pop when its getting there good, spin it a few times and do it again just for good measure.
if the bearings are good just get some new grease seals
the outside seal is 42-30-7
inside seal 50-34-7
the bearing is a 6206 bearing.
myself i think any bearing like this is going to be hard to keep water out of even the sealed 6206 bearing.
just my thoughts
