I bought an 1100cc sand viper last October. The first time I had it out the engine developed a small engine crack. I thought it would be under warranty but Joyner would not honor it and told me that I abused it. If you are thinking about buying Joyner DONT DO IT.

I think I would have took it back when this happened last October. If you did and it was told that it was not under warranty back last October after a week it would be in Court. And if that did not work out it would be in there front glass window of there shop. Blast with glee! (Yes. I am having a Bad day)

So that's the great Joyner warranty they keep bragging about. Not impressed.

Just HOW does one abuse an engine block??

You call that an engine crack?? Read this post http://www.buggynews.com/topic10448.html
I did the same thing except worse. It can be fixed but if you just fix (weld) the crack it can easily happen again. It's caused by the horizontal location of the right engine mount and can be totally eliminated by the addition of a support strut outlined in my 2007 post. Since the repair, no problems.
Looking at the way your rear skid pan is bent up, you hit the ground very hard, too.

Southern Thunder - take a look at the post and let me know what you think.

Holly S*** I haven't seen one that bad. Did it break out completely? Nice job on the repair!!! The extra brace is similar to the one i use. None the less the offer still stand.

Fortunately it did not completely break away from the block, but the damage pushed the engine pan rail out 1/4 inch. I was very surprised that my MIG with mild steel wire worked so well on chinese cast iron. I welded about an inch at a time and then let it cool for about 2 minutes.
If you're offering to fix this for free, you should be nominated for sainthood at least!
