I have been looking at the Joyner 650 Sand Spider Buggy and do know they come with an AZ title.
My question is: Has anyone in NC managed to get a buggy titled for street use in NC? If I can drive it on the street, then I might be able to justify spending $7k on a buggy. I think it would be cool and cheaper to commute to work in a buggy.

Ray, if getting a blessing from Mama is an issue, and you want to save some money, have you given any thought to buying a VW powered sandrail? They can be had for 2 or 3 thousand dollars usually.
Have good day and let me and keep me posted!

I want to keep it smaller than the VW rails.

Oh.....................I'm a little slow today, now I've got it all put together here. I forgot there is a new buggy dealer in Fayetteville. It must be quite difficult to ride by there in your firetruck everyday and not go in and buy one Very Happy Hey, if we had a Joyner dealer here where I live, I'm sure I would be there everyday until I could not resist the urge to take one home.
Also too, my boss would know where to find me during the workday Laughing
BTW, is that $7K out the door? Do you get any extras for that price? How about warranty? Can you transfer the Az title to a NC title?

No that was the MSRP price so taxes and stuff would be added but if you told him you would give him $7K otd he seemed like he would take it.

The title thing is the question. No one has the answer even the people at the DMV. Raleigh told me I would have to buy it and bring in the title and they would see. I had a problem with that, I could see them saying no we can't do that , then I'm stuck buying a bigger trailer and trailering it everywhere. If I can tag it I will build a small trailer to put the 150 on and pull it behind the Joyner to the trails. If I cannot get it street legal that a $7K buggy is not going to happen.

So DMV told you, that you would have to buy the buggy at a cost of seven thousand dollars, then bring them the title to then let them decide if they will sell you a plate for it? That is the most crazy thing I have heard this week! Thats our State goverment for you! This year Govenor Mike Easley took a family vacation to Italy on the North Carolina tax payers dime! What was it, like over 300thousand dollars?! How is it something like that can get instant approval but a poor working guy like you can't get a straight answer to a simple question from our own state goverment? Sheeesh!!! Eh?
Can DMV look at a copy of the title if it is faxed to them, or would that be asking too much?

Getting the title copied would be an issue, I think. Right now is a hard time with money so I'm not pushing the issue as of yet. When I get it set to buy, I will be pressing the DMV for an answer. I was hoping someone else had gotten one titled and I would not have an issue with them.

Getting a vehicle title in your state is really not going to be a problem. Your problem will be whether they consider the vehicle to be road capable to get registration and plates. In WA, ORVs are not allowed any roads since they were not built to DOT standards - Even off-road motorcycles with light kits cannot be converted to road use (this was enforced a couple of years ago). You may have to add windscreen, wiper and fenders plus change seat belts and tires to DOT rated ones on the Joyner to pass safety (if they don't also require bumpers). Then emission and noise testing may hang you up...
