It do have a motor....it's just electric, but dang.....$60K???
I spend about $100 a week on gas.....so times 52 weeks, I spend about 5 grand a year. So it'd take me 12 yrs to pay for this car.
Have you guys seen the specs on this car? I have read a bunch aboutit. The 0-60 is super car numbers. I think ifyou arenot taking long trips, which this type car is not for anyway, it would be a blast....

Has anyone had the opportunity to drive one of the hybrid / electric cars? A friend of mine just got one and I had the chance to drive it. I found it to be very unnerving to say the least. TOO quiet! quieter than a golf cart. It had enough power and pick up to get around town fine. It makes for an excellent grocery getter but after listening to the motor all my life and being used to driving with my ears, I didn't feel like I had control. Driving with only the sensation of movement was very uncomfortable and weird. I guess I'll just have to get up with the times. My grand kids will never know what they missed _________________ 3206 yerf. too many mods to list. easier to list what has not been modified- seats and steering wheel. plus one set of kidinme's hand made special collectors edition fuzzy dice. That looks like a step in the right direction. My biggest gripe with electric cars or hybrids, is that they always seem to look like a friggin Prius - DORKY. It seems like with these cars, style went out the window. But this car looks sporty and you'd think it would attrack more buyers.
What's interesting is what this Jonathon Goodwin of Witchita, KS is doing with dual-fuel technology. Google him. He takes the chevy Duramax and put it in a Hummer and got like 60mpg. _________________ Ron

Yeah, according to the website, the BASE price for the 2009 roadster is $109,000 and an additional $55,000 to reserve a production slot!!! I've followed this company for several months. Their belief is that all the great technological advances in automotive history started at the top end, then filtered down, producing a wow factor to early adopters. _________________ Carter Brothers gtr 300

The Tesla is more of a showcase car, not really practical for a family. Chevy has a plug in coming out in 2010, the Volt, which looks to be more affordable (estimated around 40,000), and has a gas engine to extend the range. You can read about it a motortrend.com. I find it particularly interesting Toyota is lobbying congress hard to eliminate an incentive which would make the Volt even cheaper. I love that an American car company can make an Asian company sweat. _________________ ACE 250R2 uni with 125 jet, stock exhaust

yep ric i can sure understand what you mean.something like this would be good in the city areas were you are really not traveling a lot of miles just stopping and starting alot eating up a tank of gas.the price is what i was frowning about thats alot of money and what is the maintenance i wonder on one of these if some thing would happen you are not just going to pull in any where and have some one look at it.
i'm like ckau,i just can't get with the times i know there are a lot of members here probably that never owned a vehicle with a carb.never had the fun of going out on a cold morning starting there vehicle then going back inside to grab a cup of coffee and before you get it poured the automatic choke didn't kick off and it was setting there running wide open. those were the days.i do understand somethings going to have to be done though.
