Isnt it a bad idea to run through water? couldnt you crack the engine, by cooling it down to fast when it hits the water?

I'm curious too... ran for a few hours today, then hit a MASSIVE puddle...more like a pond.

Saw a lot of steam, but it still ran fine and got me home. I'm trying not to make buggy-swimming a habit though.

yea, my buddy takes his quad through "ponds" over the wheels, and i tell him it cant be good for the engine.

thats beauty of the aluminum motor. they are a whole lot more forgiving that a cast iron block. the motor temps don't get hot and chill fast enough to do any real damage. the exhaust really puts out a neat steam cloud though. Laughing

Worry more about moisture corroding your electrical parts or getting into the oil or gas. Putting the buggy away wet and muddy is more harmful that anything else.

As long as the engine is running your fine, its when you have been driving it hard than shut it down to clean it with the cold water hose.I have a Honda in my shop now with a cracked case.The customer said when he shut it down to wash the mud off it he noticed after cleaning it it started leaking oil, sure enough cracked down the side of the case.He bought it second hand from Honda with a warranty and they will not warranty it.
