Two issues presently. First, I purchased a new carb for my yerf dog last summer. It has sat all winter and my kids didn't use it much this summer due to a dead battery. The other night it jumped off fine ran for about 5 minutes and was shut off. When we tried to start it gas was running out of the upper overflow hose on the side of the carb. When you finally get it started the exhaust is full of raw fuel. I assume the float is stuck????
Additionally, where do you get a new battery for this thing? There aren't any numbers on the orginal that cross over to anything anyone carries around here.
welcome to buggy news id go down to your local parts store napa auto zone ect and find a battery most american batteries are taller then stock at least all at my local stores were also look at wally world _________________ 06 joyner 250 sand viper, red metallic..blue clutch spring 17 gram sliders

Thanks for the responses. When I clean the carb is there anything I need to not take apart of be extra carefull with? I've taken the one on my 2-stroke four-wheeler apart a bunch, but this one is a little more complex looking.
check your oil!!! make sure if that carb leaked down throught eh exhaust, chances are something got past the rings and such... check that oil, smell it... if it smells like gas, drain it and shoot me a PM and I'll let you know what to do after you drain it...

Carb Removal:
1] Be Careful of the Intake Rubber, it will crack if you tweak it too much...
2] Don't be shy... I've got a few stock carbs and will send you one if you mess yours up.
3] All of the stuff you'll need to clean is accessible.
4] Take pictures of everything before you start. Be sure to take more than you thank you need and review them before you start. That way you'll know where things go if you have a question when you're putting it back together. If you've already taken it appart, don't worry. There are a ton of pictures on here and we can take pics of ours and send them to you or post them up here...
5] Be careful when you're taken the screws out. The hardware on these parts and buggies are cheap and will get mangeled very easy...
6] Take your time... We know you want to ride, but it's easier to do this once the right way then twice the wrong way...
7] Refer to Number 6...
8] We're always here to help you. Some of us are even on here at very odd hours. So post the questions when you have them. Don't wait...
9] Have fun... _________________ Chris Dierkens

Before you take the carb off give it a rap with the handle of a screwdriver. Often that's all you need to "cure" a stuck float.
If that doesn't work, proceed with TH's suggestions.
One thing to watch out for...When you have the carb off and you remove the fuel bowl keep an eye on the pin that the float pivots on. It's a loose part and can vanish quickly. When reassembling make sure that pin is centered or your float will jam & it'll act like your work was wasted.
Also...for basic disassembly & cleaning or jet changes you don't have to disconnect the throttle cable. Unplug the choke wire, pull off the vacuum hose, loosen the clamp on the rubber intake elbow & wiggle the carb off. Lay a towel on top of the engine & work on it right there.
These little carbs are easy to work on. In 4 years of tinkering I've never had to replace a part--including gaskets. _________________ _________________

Thanks again for the advice and guidenance. I took the carb apart and put it back together no extra or missing parts. Haven't had a chance to start it to see if it's put back together right though. I ran out of time and have been working like a dog at a new job and haven't had a chance to install the fuel cut off or check the oil.
Thanks again. I'll let you know when I can get a day off to do the rest and how it goes.
We just replaced the battery on my son's Yerf - got a new one at Advanced auto - its an:
Autocraft 12N7-4A.
Like Chris mentioned, it will fit but you'll need to bend a tab down on the battery tray.
One other note - we had trouble with the carb on the very first day with our Yerfdog - took it apart, cleaned it and haven't had trouble with it since (the carb that is). As long as you followed Chris' instructions you should be ok. Highly recommend the part about taking pictures. That has saved me more times than I can count.
Good luck! _________________ Twister Hammer Head 250 - 2006
