Hi guys.
My name is T.J. i'm 15.
I have a Crossfire 150r.
I have had it for about 2 years now and i really enjoy it.
I usually ride with a group of fourwheelers and it kepts up pretty good on the trails. Except on trails with hills.
It's all stock except for the tires which are Mud Lite.
But i have a few questions.

1. Does anyone else on here have one?

2. Is there a governor on it, or another way to adjust the speed to make it go faster?

3. It has the alway's on lights on it. But for some reason they are really dim, and I don't think that it could be the bulbs because the rear brake light is dim also. So any other ideas as what this could be.

Well thanks in advance

Hey TJ! welcome aboard!

I don't have a crossfire, but most of the 150's we have are similar engines and transmissions. You can make some simple and inexpensive changes that will REALLY make a difference. And after those changes, you'll giggle at yourself for keeping it mostly stock for this long.

Do a search on this forum for CVT mods (roller weights and clutch) and also look into Air Intake and Exhaust and Carburator mods. The CVT mods are the easiest, and make the biggest difference on hills (my opinion...I live in the mountains)

Keep in mind... you can make it go faster, but you'll have more problems on hills. Or... you can make it up those hills easier, but lose some top speed. (not much). Most of these things can be done by yourself if you have some wrenches, an impact driver, and access to your computer!!

There are plenty of other forum members with Crossfire 150Rs, so you in good company. As Mike explained, the 150cc class buggies are very similar, so there is a lot of information on how to improve performance. There is no govenor or speed limitor on these buggies, but there are modifications that can give better top speed OR better hill climbing.

Your buggy already has the 10g rollers in the CVT, so you just need the 1500 RPM torque spring to help it down shift quicker. Since you have a double roller chain, you can purchase one 37t axle dual-sprocket or two 39t standard axle sprockets to drop your gearing down and handle those bigger hills. Withthe bigger sprockets, you will most likely have to buy additional chain links to extend your stock chain.

Removing the stock air intake and replacing it with dual stage UNI filter on a short intake pipe will allow the engine to breathe better and require you replace the main carburetor jet with a 125 or 127.5 to compensate for the additional air flow.

The lights are run directly off the AC stator of the engine. Brightness will vary with RPM, but as you noticed they are not too bright. You have some options to get better lighting:
1. Buy the largest H3 halogen lights you can find and replace the bulbs in the new housing with the current ones you are running (the stator will not handle a greater wattage than stock)
2. Replace your two weak 35w lights with one big 55w light
3. Update your stator to a 8-pole or 11-pole model that will allow you run more or brighter lights.

As posted previously, the dealers on this site are good source of parts. You can also check out BuggyDepot.com since they are specialists in the Howhit motor that is in your Crossfire.

You will need an impact wrench with approximately 250 ft/lbs of torque to remove the 17mm or 18mm nut holding the clutch. The nut holding the clutch together is something like 1-1/2" or 38mm in size - You will need overly large sockets or wrenches that can handle this span to access the torque spring.

welcome Lazy_eye!

if you need a crossfire expert, you have come to the right place!!! I am not a complete crossfire nut, but I am close... one guy has me topped with tomberlin products, and that is krusekontrol, who is a member of this site... he has 5. The 150Rs are great... i have one of those, and a baja dune 150, which are almost identical...

where are you located? Update your profile, and we can find a parts dealer close to you, and other members that may be able to assist you better!!!

I deal all my performance needs with kidnmekarts.com (screen name on bn.com - kidnme), or with Glade (screen name on bn.com - doonrunr)

They are both awesome dealers, and great for info, support, and products.

Good luck and welcome aboard!!!

So I have a few more questions...
So with this spring will it increase the top speed/ or the hill climbing capabilities?
Also is this part fairly cheap?

If it isn't for increasing the top speed than could someone please point me in the right direction of what i will be needing?
Because as of now I think that I'm looking mainly for a higher top speed.

Sorry i'm just kind of new to this stuff.

Thanks
