When my buggy was new, I could climb all the steep hills here in the AZ desert. Lately, I can only get about half-way up the steep ones. I get to a point and the rear wheels stop spinning. I suspect that my clutch is worn and need a new one. Is this my problem? _________________ ALZWEL (Frank)

If your engine revs higher when the buggy stops moving up hill then the clutch is slipping, if it bogs then you know it is fine (normal), however, that is putting a lot of stress on it if you are running stock gearing and those big tires, a LOT since it is geared so high.
Clutch should only come into play when taking off from a dead stop or if you have slowed to a stop going up hill (bogs the engine, if it slipped too little the engine would die). _________________ Buggy-less at the moment.

pull the cvt cover and see how much pad is left, check for glazing on the pads and the clutch bell, also check the belt _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything

If you like the tires then putting a 39T twister sprocket and chain on there is pretty easy and cheap. ($80?) that might put you back in business.
In fact I would recommend this gearing for your stock tires, you will find that your top speed probably won't decrease but your climbing will improve. These engines generally can't pull that tall of gearing, changing out the sprocket gets you into good climbing mode without any roller changes, and your engine won't be screaming all the time.
Just a thought. _________________ Buggy-less at the moment.

The big tires work well on the flats. I can keep up with my buddy's 250 Joyner (he weighs more than 100 lbs more than me). Thanks for the suggestion. _________________ ALZWEL (Frank)

I have been told that if I change to a 39 tooth sprocket, it will let me climb the hills easier. This would not be an easy modification for my buggy. I visited San Juan several years ago, you have a beautiful country. _________________ ALZWEL (Frank)

If you have the double roller chain/sprocket setup on your Reaction, BigE sells a dual 37t sprocket for your application or you can bolt up two 39t sprockets. Some people have been able to use the stock chain length with the 37t sprocket while the only way to to use the stock chain with the 39t is to use the heavy duty tensioner from BuggyDepot.com. Otherwise you need to buy additional double roller chain from one of these dealers on the forum or convert to a standard 530 or 530H motorcycle chain. _________________ 08 Joyner SandViper 250
