| < Off Road Go Kart & Mini Buggy Discussion ~ How do you find a mechanic? |

I live in South Jersey (NJ).
I figure it's only a matter of time before I break something i can't fix. I was wondering what people look for when they search out a mechanic.

I'd stick to a small engine mechanic with experience in 150cc and 250cc engines. Maybe give him a test... ask for a quote to change the roller weights in the transmission. If he charges you a couple hundred bucks... look for another one. (You can do it yourself for under $20)
But there aren't many things you can't learn to do yourself with the help of buggynews. Just some things are more in depth and time consuming then others. _________________ 05' Carter Talon GSX 150 2R

Most of the engines are very reliable if you keep up with regular maintenance.. Keep the air filter clean and change the oil regularily. If you take care of them they will take care of you. _________________ Darren,

Go out your front door, make a left, go to the corner of your house, make a left, now walk till you get to the next corner, make a left...one more corner and make another left. Now go in your front door and to the closest bathroom. Above the sink there will be a mirror, look in. There is your best mechanic. You would be surprised how little most mechanics actually know. They usually just wing it. Once you are familliar with your machine you will be able to fix or modify anything on them. they are very simple machines. Good luck _________________ 2005 Joyner 650 Turbo

thats a good one vanet and that so true most of the time.
also if you don't know ask someone most usually people are always willing to pass on info and the ones that know and don't want to pass a little info on to help someone are probably afraid you might learn more then they know.thats just been some of my experiences in the past.thats what makes buggynews such a great place everybody shares and i have learned alot from here.
