Gotta love spur of the moment decisions !!

Monday I was up north (northern MI) at the begining of our vacation and had some time to spend. I hit the Hammerhead dealer in Lewiston , and checked those out. Then moved on to the Polaris dealer in Gaylord. Ended up taking a ride in a 09 Polaris RZR.... and then ended up taking it home ! It was money well spent. We put close to 300 miles on it so far. We hooked up and spent the day riding with fellow board member Guy48065 and his wife. Had a great ride with no issues. Now I have a serious addiction !!
Last year I built a snowmobile from the chassis up, triple 800 (180hp) in a Polaris Edge chassis, lots of powder coat and billet ...well that is for sale. Got to have funds for the RZR mods !!

Did you get the regular RZR or the new RZR-S with the long travel kit?

I am saving up for the RZR. Sheez...the price is like buying a cheap import. Three of my friends have the RZR and they love it. FYI, check the air filter often. There are issues with the air intake...dust getting into the engine. Maybe they have resolved the issue with the 09's. One of my buddies put in a 500 dollar filter/canister upgrade on his 08 RZR. Solved the problem.

Not sure if I'd buy the RZR or the RZR-S. I love the style of the S much better. The S has a wider stance but I don't know, maybe the regular would be better for trail riding. The regular RZR is 50 inches wide so you can go on ATV only trails...

Take some pictures and enjoy your machine!

The Rzr is a lot of cash, no doubt, but for the tight wooded trails in northern Michigan it's a good choice. Add-in Chuck's desire to also play at the dunes at Silver Lake and it's the only choice.

Don't even think about bringing up the argument to buy a used Jeep for the money. There are literally thousands of miles of ATV trails on state land here open only to 50" vehicles. A $16 annual ORV permit opens it all up for you to explore.

I drool daily over Jeeps. There is no question a Jeep is a great choice for us westerners who have huge open riding areas that are very demanding. But I owuld never suggest a jeep to someone looking at UTVs. Two completely different animals. Yeah, a used one may be cheaper than a new RZR, but repairs and upgrades on full-sized offroad vehicles like Jeeps and trucks can run in the tens of thousands! Full-sized vehicles are really more for those with deep pockets.

Yeah, I like the look of the RZR-s. Of course if the original rzr is any indication, don't trust that msrp! The originals routinely has a 40% MARKUP OVER MSRP, so look for the s version to run $20,000 at dealers, unless polaris has addressed demand issues.

I'm in that jealous pool as well....
I've been getting some pressure from my partners at work to sell my buggies, all of them, and buy 1 RZR....

It's tempting...
