Ever used REAR shocks from an atv or MX bike?

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried using the shocks from the rear of an atv(s) or MX bike for the rear of your buggy? Most would be around 14-16 inches long and would require purchasing 2 from separate atv's (only one rear shock on most atvs or bikes). Most "sport" or "racing" atv/mx shocks are usually 3 or 4-way adjustable and have options for different weight springs, and are rebuildable. You could really tune your ride for your terrain or driving style. They can be bought used for a decent price on eBay. Might work for the front as well with lengthened shock bosses to make up for a shorter shock - as long as the travel was enough. It would take some experimenting....

I haven't tried it yet, but I am thinking about it. Watching some on e-Bay right now as a matter of fact.

I have used trx400 shocks on the rear , they were a big improvement. I had them on a carter gx1502r that I had a few years ago

They came from the front of the atv, I put them on the rear.

If your going to buy used and have to rebuild them you will need to purchase the tools to do so.If they are nitrogen filled you will need nitrogen,tank regulator and gauges about $200.00,and you will still have to experament with spring,weight,tension ect.If you want it right there is no cheap way.I have driven a 150 and 250 which the customers had put atv shocks on them and the 250 had to have the mounts relocated and welded and although better than the stock,I would rather spend the money and get a set of Works,yes there pricey but the ride you get from them is worth the money.They are designed for for the karts for what ever driving you do.They will tame the hardest bumps. I agree with Tom on the works shocks. I have them on my 250 and am glad I spent the money for them

I have the Yamaha Blaster Shocks on the rear of my buggy...

Oh, there's no doubt that "Works" shocks would be the best, but that kind of cash for shocks is out of the question. Anything will be better than the stock "springs". They are not shocks. Just springs with a shaft to keep them straight (most 150cc buggies have the same stock). I am convinced that any kind of Oil filled or nitrogen shocks with compression and rebound damping will produce a much better ride, and most any Atv or Sled shock will be one of the two.

I think I may drop the hammer on a set of Bombardier DS650 shocks. I can get an almost brand new set for $85. The only thing keeping me at bay is that they are 1.5" longer than the stock shocks on the Crossfire.
