Picked up the Crossfire 150R today. It looks brand new with very low hours. No wear anywhere. Not even a full tank of gas has been run through it. All stock except for the addition of aluminum panels here and there. The boys had no idea I was even considering buying a kart. I never mentioned it. I just came home with it this evening and the smiles were from ear to ear.

First immpression?
I didn't really know what to expect and I was a bit surprised when I rode it. It's no speed demon for sure. I doubt it would run 30mph. Seems to have sufficient power for moderate hill climbing, but it doesn't jump up and run quickly. The swingarm type rear suspension feels weird. Kinda like your riding in a slinky or a worm. That will definitely be the first mod - suspension. The stock shocks (frt & rear) have absolutely no damping rebound. I don't even think that they are oil filled. They are just springs with a shaft. Just boinging right back at you on rebound. That's just beating the other front end components to death. Anyone out there with suggestions on shocks? I know that one fella has used shocks from a Snowmobile and some have used Yamaha Blaster shocks on the rear. How well do they work?

More to come this weekend. We are off work and out of school. I'm sure we'll get some time on it. Here's a few pix...

Congrats. I Paid $160 total off of ebay, and its the best thing I could've done to my cart (brutal terrain). Also I consider it one of my top 3 mods for investment/ return. The other 2 being roller weights $15 or less, Uni and main jet/gutted muffler $20. In my opinion shocks are a must do mod for this type of cart. You won't regret it one bit, but you will pat yourself on the back for the investment!

nice looking ride i'm sure that did put some smiles on faces Very Happy
looking at your picture looks like your back shocks are set at the lightest setting.you can adjust them so the the coils have more tension.that might help the ride until you get the shock you want.
let the mods begin

Good eye pud. All 4 shocks are at the softest setting. I hate to set them any higher as it will put even more undue pressure on components when they rebound. Shocks are definitely first priority on the mod list. Front and rear. I wonder if something like Yamaha Raptor 700 or YFZ450 shocks would be heavy enough? They are both the correct length at 18" eye to eye.

i don't know what to tell you on those shocks but i'm sure others will know and i think there is alot of info here on modding your type of buggy.
myself i'm just still running stock shocks cranked up to max to keep them from bottoming out.mine seems to ride good and don't bother me when climbing from being to stiff.
i never did have any thing that road smooth though Laughing

The front shocks are 18", but the rear are somewhere between 12"-14". For the rear swing arm, look for a pair of used Yamaha Blaster front shocks or a new pair of BuggyDepot.com rear shocks.

I've got some Yamaha Raptor 700 front shocks (white springs with reservior) if your interested. I had them installed on my Titan II that let me go full speed on the whoops! They worked wonderful but I had too much sag I think cuz my machine wieghs about 900lbs they might work alot better on a lighter maching like yours I think.

Just looked on ebay item# 380058875934 Arctic cats. These are qhat I have the spring are soft (perfect for me 170lbs) but to soft for heavy riders, or 2 passengers. RMB can give you info on replacement springs.
