Anyone here have the Twister exhaust tha thas 2 long bolts through it with the fiberglass packing inside of it?
has anyone removed this packing for a mod? any gains? anyone just remove everything from the pipe??? I have one now, thinking of swapping out my stock gutted baja pipe for the twister pipe and pulling the guts out...
Any ideas???

Yes, I have one - you'll get to see it this weekend.
Anyway, naturally I took it apart.
It's outer shell is double-walled with fiberglass packing and "holes" on the inner liner. The main area is divided into 3 chambers with holes in the plates (2 of which are mostly filled with the long end-to-end bolts). The inlet area is a solid pipe with about 14 holes drilled into it's sides, it also has had the end capped off. The final outlet is rather small.
Still flows better then the stock unit, but I couldn't leave well enough alone.
I drilled several more holes in:
-The inlet pipe
-The plates separating the chambers
-the final outlet plate just under the main outlet
It sounds better and performs a bit better also. Check it out on Saturday, see ya! _________________ American Sportworks 7150 & Lance Charger 150 --:The Other Buggies:-- "Um yes, these are modified, why?"

On my twister pipe I removed the endcap from the inlet pipe and removed the plate as well (I only remember there being one plate in mine but its been a couple of years). I left the packing in place because I can't see where I would gain anything by removing it and I definitely don't want it any louder than it is now.

same here, can't see the packing restricting anything on this exhaust. _________________ Steele's Powersports

...and now I can't find the pictures I took of it all when I had it apart.
From the drawings of what I had seen before I ordered it from Reliable, it only had a single internal chamber separator plate. I was somewhat surprised to find 3 chambers and two internal plates. No matter though, they got a bit more hole-y.
Since the packing material is around the outer edges, and I think is only serving as a minor sound absorption role, I don't think that removing it will help flow too much based on my observation.
Drilling a couple of holes straight through from the back made ours a bit deeper, but only a little louder. It's still neighborhood friendly. _________________ American Sportworks 7150 & Lance Charger 150 --:The Other Buggies:-- "Um yes, these are modified, why?"
