Hi all

I am replacing a shredded drive belt in my GS Moon 150. I have the crankcase open and the old belt off, but my first attempt to fit the new belt resulted in the engine barely ticking over. Apparently I did not install it correctly. Can anyone out there give me some guidance as to how the belt should be fitted?

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I did't emove the fan disk. I fitted the new belt by separating the disks on the clutch and pushing the belt down into the groove as far as possible. I then was able to feed the belt over the fan disk and into the front groove without removing the fan disk. I assumend that as soon as the engine was turned, the belt ould assume the correct position. Apparently, this is wrong.

I have now been told to remove te fan disk- but I dont know where the belt should be seated before I put the fan disk back on, or how to do so.

remove the fan, remove the belt, put the belt in the clutch pulley only about an 1/8 inch. put the belt on the out put shaft and roll it on to the pin.

Usually when a GY6 belt breaks, the front CVT rollers will fall out of groove or turn sideways. When replacing a broken belt, you need to use an impact driver/17mm socket and remove the front CVT assembly. Place the rollers back in the grooves, and slide it back on while holding it together. Then slide the belt on and replace fan. I'm going to make a video the next time I replace a belt......until then, here is a video of a guy changing rollers on a scooter.

Thnks for the info, guys. your advice and the video link are a great help. I'm going to get an impact wrench tomorrow!

Now does anyone have an idea as to why the engine dies immediately when you advance the throttle?

Tanks again Guys, all is now back together and running well.

The CVT rollers had indeed turned sideways, but they went back in just fine.

Happy hunting!
