Everyones talking about UNI or K&N filters for better air flow... anyone used anything else? Got one like this for free new in the box... just wondering if there would be any reason not to use it. Anyone?

Yup, its MRP... I've only ever seen these on minibikes before, but the box says scooters also, so I didn't think it would be an issue with buggies.

I'll probably add a cover and maybe a mud shield just for added security though.

Good point... it is a bit heavy compared to plastic and foam..

You can always make some little bracket or support.

I do have a roll of filter foam that I could put under it for some cushion, and maybe a zip tie or two. Probably a good idea to put a sock on it as well like the covers I've seen on UNI's for a second stage. (If it fits)

Mike,

Zip tie or a strap to support it, should be fine. Do you know the size of that filter. What is the width at the bottom (widest point) and the length of it (only the filter part not the tube). Let me know cause I have an extra Pre-Charger that might fit it.

Mike I don't think it weighs enough to worry about the weight I'm going to test mine this weekend back to back versus uni I think it should flow as good and I think its not made as cheap. Foam is the most basic simple cheap design you can make, not that it doesn't work well ... Its just cheap IMO if this other one flows as good I would prefer it. I think pre chargers and stuff are a bandaid to a poor filtering air filter. Pre chargers restrict flow. We dump air boxes because they restrict flow I don't see the point of a PRe charger unless you drive in sand storms.
