i have a baja motorsports dune 150 go kart and i need a new engine and i would like to know how hard it would be to fit a 250 cc engine in it cause it never had enough power but it had enough room and suspension and i cannot afford a new one. thanks.

it could be done but you will need to figure out how you do reverse.

Is your 150 engine still running? Why do you need a new one?

well the airbox broke and i thought i had it all fixed and then i decided it was screwed up beyond repair, so in the process of trying to figure out how to rig up a new air filter system it got dirt in the motor and ruined the cylinder head the piston and the cylinder, needless to say it burnt almost a quart of oil every 3 hours of riding, and i took it apart hoping to find it was going to be an easy piston ring job but the hole top end is screwed beyond repair so its been sitting outside under cover for 2 months and i just wanted to know if any1 had put a 250cc motor in the same kind of go kart and i wanted to know if it was going to be easy

Capt.

I also own a Dune 150. I would say yes you can replace, but you will have alot more work ahead of you with an engine swap then you would to replace the top end on the motor you have.

Did you have any up grades on the 150cc when it was running. The reason I ask is the stock karts are slow and gutless, however you can do about $200 in upgrades and really get these things moving.

Dont give up on the Dune, they are amazing karts. Keep us posted either way...help with fixing the old one, or swapping to a new one.

I agree with monk, you can do a complete top end with just a 155cc kit, new head, cam for alot less money and it will really wake up that 150

Capt.

My suggestion would be to re-build that top end either with the 155 kit or just back to stock, then work on getting afew of the other upgrades available. Talk to BIGE (he is in this thread above) he can help you with the parts you need to re-build.

As far as upgrades go, finish that intake you were working on. We can help if you have questions. Then i would look at replacing the roller (around 20 bucks) and the main spring for your clutch (another 20-30 bucks). These will make a big difference in performance. There are a few more things you can do to get a few extra horses, but those should do you good without spending a whole lot.

I personaly have never used them, so I wouldn't know. Ask around here, I'm sure someone has and can tell you.

I do everything with BIGE and he is GREAT!!
