| < Maintenance and Repairs - Mini Buggy ~ Dune 150 no spark |

Hello, I hope someone can help. I'm almost ready to shoot my buggy. (Dune 150 GY6 engine) I don?t have a spark at my spark plug. I have tested and replaced almost everything, CDI, coil, stator. And still no spark. The engine turns over fine, I can put my finger into sparkplug socket and not feel anything. Out of desperation I started replacing parts (shot gun mechanic style) I have read almost all the helpful comments from the board and printed out the wiring diagram. But I?m still stuck. Is there a way to hot wire certain parts to help eliminate an open connection? For example run a hot wire to the CDI or other parts. (However, I don't want to fry a part that does not want the juice.) When I look at the wiring diagram it shows the red wire as a hot (12 volts) but other parts of the electrical system is not exactly clear which wires are also hot. Which wire of the CDI should be hot ? (if any) Any ideas would help
Thanks

try taking the spark plug cap off and see if it is makeing contact with the wire in the spark plug wire. _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything

does your buggy have a push button kill switch? if so maybe its bad. if memory serves me wright when you push button to kill engine it kills power to cdi wich then kills power to coil.
my buggy will shut down two ways by key switch and push button kill switch.i would look in to that to after everything you have changed
its been a while but i have read here of these going bad and not lettting the coil get power.
hope that come out wright

Not sure if other brands of 150's have this but the Baja Dune has three Ignition switches. 1st is the key 2nd is the switch next to the key and 3rd is the brake. If the brake is not applied hard enough it won't start maybe the brake switch. Unplug the plug buy the solinoid and connect the two together. That might be it. _________________ 90cc Atv

When I first got my dune it would cut out, long story short check that your connections on your coil are good and tight. Also make sure the little metal piece inside the sparks plug boot is connected. On mine the wire had come loose from the metal cap that goes on the spark plug.
Hope you find the answer.

We have a Dune owner thread you should post your buggy on. It just for fun to get a view of everyones buggies. Look under Mini Buggy Discussions - "Calling all Dune 150 Owners" _________________ Baja Dune 150

start with the simple... it cant be the brake switch...that just cuts out the starter solenoid... not the spark...
The green switch on the dash... remove it and jump the wires, turn the buggy over and see what happens... If it still has no spark, then it would be the key switch... Try the key switch... Cross the connections together, then ground them to start it... if it starts, it was the switch... if not, then it may be the rectifier... If you already replaced the CDI, there is no other explanation other than the rectifier...
Good luck! Try those out and see what happens!!!

These guys are right. Your electrical issue may actually be a mechanical issue. Check all of those connections to make sure they are tight. A small screwdriver, a pair of pliers and a meter are all you need right now.
As far as what voltages you should have? 1st thing is to make sure you have ANY voltage at that point. Most of them are 12v, some are DC (starter), some are AC (lights). The AC stuff is on a different circuit. _________________ Chris Dierkens
