Thinking about bigger rear tires on my 250. I know that it will raise my gear ratio some but I'm going to rejet my carb and would be willing to do the clutch and roller mods as well. I just don't want to lose any climbing power. I am willing to give up some top speed as I'm in the 40's right now.
I'm wanting bigger tires because of the rutty and muddy terrain that I drive in, but I also need to climb some pretty good grades which it can do now.
I currently have the stock 22's (21's really) and am thinking about 25's at the largest.
Recommendations from any of you guys that have done larger tires would be great to give me a guideline on how big I should go.

Thanks BH

You could put some real 22's on with a good tread and not notice much of a difference in the gearing and have good mud performance. Above that you may have to change your gearing. If you have a straight axle w/ chain drive it's simple to do. If you have shaft drive it might not be possible. If you go to 25's you will only pick up about 1 1/2" of ground clearance over "real" 22's and I think you'll have to get new wheels as well.

My gearing is a 36T sprocket and I can't go any larger because of clearence issues. It is a straight axle buggy and my problem is the ruts here where I ride, I keep dragging my skid plate, actually broke it this week end. I have found some 25 inch tires that are same wheel diameter and width of my current tires, would I still have to change the rim too?
I'm not dead set on 25's and I see your point of minimal ground clearence improvement. I'll go look at a set of 22's tomorrow.
Thanks for the response.

I put 25"s on my 150 because of clearance issues also. You will loose some low end torque by switching. These are what I put on mine. They are for sale now.
