I had a new riser made and want to know what you guys think.

its all aluminum, turned on a lathe so there are no weld, the carb end matches the 30mm intake, the head end is a little bigger than a stock port but the stock port can be matched.

the center hole is bored and not just a tube, so this thing was made from a soild stick of aluminum.

please let me know your thoughts.

1. How much $ once in production?

2. Would it make sense to make the riser and elbow as one piece to eliminate another coupling?

If I order 50 or more they will sell for $115.00. it would not be cost efective to make the intake part of the riser if thats what you were talking about

Are there any down draft carburetors small enough for a GY6 that could eliminate the need for an intake elbow? I would love to see a cleaner intake path...

It looks like 30mm or 32mm side draft carburetor, larger intake elbow and riser will run about $250. That kind of money should produce some other options (like fuel injection).

i like the looks of your riser and i'm sure you have looked at this different ways.the price does seem steep BUT i can just imagine the price of the aluminum square stock to have these made, plus having machine work done to have these made is not cheap either.
so i can see were you are coming from, trying to make it the best you can but still affordable.then alot of the guys can still put those big carbs on without a hassle.
thats just my thoughts.

that one cost me $300.00 so I am trying to get a feel if its needed enough by people that want to use the 30mm intake to make it worth me having them made

I don't know....BIGE could do like all the big multi-national companies do....he could send one over to China and probably get it made alot cheaper. But then again his design would probably get copied/stolen.

Eric,

Awesome! I don't think many folks will have that big of an issue with the cost if it stays around $100 +/-. Think about it, people who are spending the money for the bigger carbs, heads, big bore and stroker crank, etc. have the money to afford the riser too. They will pay for quality and performance.

I do believe you would get more value out of an intake riser designed to eliminate the need for the intake manifold. In other words, design it to be an intake manifold in its own right. Cut the billet block so that it bends to connect the carb direct.

Anything to eliminate potential vacuum leaks is a plus.

Come up with a way to connect the manifold to the carb without slippage, leaks, and a long life and you will have a great product!
