I replaced the original 107 main jet with a 130 to get it to run properly and added a NGK Iridium spark plug. The intake was removed and the air box opening was plugged.
Why keep the air box? It captures the valve cover gases and the original air filter is working in reverse to release the PVC gases.
The end result is a GY6 scooter that runs 10-15 mph faster with better acceleration carrying over 200 lbs of driver.

thats a big step up in jets, did you have to do anything to the exhaust to.
i would say it does run well now,you know you just won't beable to stop there. you will keep adding mods till you will be riding wheelies down the road

Nothing was done to the stock exhaust - It needs to be neighborhood friendly, so any additional noise modification will not happen. In stock form, it would do 50 + mph - I felt that it was being held back with the convoluted intake system and I was right. I have considered dropping in lighter rollers and heavier torque spring, but I do not know what the those additional RPMs would do to the quiet running of this engine. I may drop in the red CDI that is in the Yerf to see what difference it makes in low end take off since I do not want the engine screaming at high RPMs.
This is my wife's scooter (I drive the Honda Passport), so there will be nothing extreme. My stock Passport only does 45 mph on flats with no slope or wind - If I want speed, I have my Concours that pushes triple digits with ease. My wife weighs half as much as me, so the Touring in current tune could do over 70 mph and tackle any hill with her on it.

I replaced the stock 13g rollers with a set of 9g I had in my spare parts bin. Low end acceleration has definitely improved, but the RPMs run a little higher than I like. I didn't tell my wife, so we will see if she likes it or not.
I was surprised to see both variator and clutch nuts were 17mm with thread lock in the Tank scooter. Why aren't the buggies set up this way? _________________ 08 Joyner SandViper 250

well how does the wife like the mods you have done to her scooter.
a question here, how does a scooter handle in turns.i know they are pretty light can you lay one down in a sharp turn pretty good or will they come out from under a person.i have never rode a scooter.

My wife is away so she has not tried the scooter with the CVT modifications. She did like the zip of the intake upgrade and carburetor rejet.
Smaller diameter tires do not corner as well as larger ones. The Tank Touring model uses 3.50-10 tires with aggressive sidewalls to try to compensate, but the conventional 2.25/2.50-17 tires on the Honda Passport out perform it in turns. With step through frames, you cannot hold or adjust yourself on the seat with your knees. If you ride a scooter as aggressively as a motorcycle, you will have to have better balance and more upper body strength to stay on the seat.
In the city, scooters will out maneuver regular motorcycles since they have a sharp steering rake and 6' or less wheelbase. If you take a scooter in a parking lot, you can make figure eights within a two by two parking space lined area.
Most scooters are about 175-250 lbs - This will encourage you to whip it in and out of turns. With such little weight, it is easy to pick up either end and move it. It also means that it can be stolen easily - I use a u-shaped bicycle or disc brake lock on whatever end is harder to pick up. _________________ 08 Joyner SandViper 250
