Hi all. I just recently purchases a Hurricane 250 buggy from AB. They seemed like great people and I am awaiting my new buggy. I have raced quads for 12 years(400-450r) so I dont know much about buggies accept they are a lot of fun.
Can anyone tell me any info on the Hurricane 250 either good or bad? Just wondering if there is anything consistantly bad or lacking in design or quality?
I am also looking for people in the Indianapolis area that have some experience with buggies. I can do most mods and repairs myself from working with atv but would like to know someone with hands on experience with buggies.
Any and all responses greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Welcome to the buggy madness, will you have your buggy in time for August 23rd ride at Badlands? Small drive west of Indy. _________________ 2007 Carter Talon, 9.5 gram rollers, 1500 rpm spring, Uni air filter, 130 jet, gutted exhaust, Bando HP coil, HP CDI box, 22x11x10 Kenda XCR rear tires.

Blister is a great guy, he's near you. There are a few more but their names escape me right now. Look through the list of members if no one chimes in here.
Welcome to the fun. _________________ Chris Dierkens

I will have by buggy by then but need to do big 3 mods.Air exh re-jet first. Iam used to alot more power so I am worried it will feel like a dog. As for the badlands I have been out there several times and depending on crowd it can be very dangerous.
welcome. the hurricane is a pretty good buggy. might want to do the cvt mods first. they are simple to do. Travis (steelebilly ) lives about 20 minutes from Indy _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything

The buggy "shifts" automatically based on torque and engine RPM. Most are tuned too high in ratio for serious off-road use. By using lighter rollers and heavier springs, the buggy will keep in lower ratios longer and "downshift" quicker. This will put the RPM and torque curves closer to your actual use. _________________ 08 Joyner SandViper 250

Thank you PGHruby. I know alot about quads but this is all new to me. Sounds like most people go with 9-10gr rollers and 1500lb springs for best acceleration without sacraficing too much top end. Does this sound correct? Is there certain brands that are more durable or offer better performance?
The upgrade parts you listed are for a 150cc GY6 engine. I think your engine is a 250cc CN250, so you need the 18g sliders and blue Polini torque spring. Some people change out the three clutch springs to change the clutch engagement RPM, but I have been happy with stock springs and clutch. BigE (Eric) will be able to provide the proper fitting parts.
You will need an impact wrench with at least 250 ft/lbs of torque to work on the CVT. If you do not have an air compressor, there are electric units for about $50. _________________ 08 Joyner SandViper 250

you are correct about the 250cc motor. I guess after looking at hundreds of posts, the most common buggy is the 150cc and that is what was in my head. Thank all of you for your input and I am sure that I will be calling on you again when my buggy comes in. This is an awesome site with really good people and advice. Hope to ride with some of you soon.
