Looking for someone with experience in the 2005 Yerfdog Spiderbox 150cc cart. I know there's a guy on here that is considered the YD king, but I forgot his user name. I'm looking for an electric cover that goes over the CDI, voltage regulator, etc. I am also looking for an original air filter housing.
I would also like to put bigger tires on the front with the four lug pattern like my Carter. I have the spindles from a Carter but they're a little bigger than the YD. I'd like to go with 19-20" tires with 4 lug. Any suggestion on what might fit (bolt on)?
Also looking at getting a reverse kit for it. Has anyone tried the one out on line? I think it's buggydepot that has it but it's $299 and comes with everything. Just wondering if it's worth it and if there are any headaches with the istallation/performance afterwards.

You can get most of these parts from Tomberlin. They come with the same engine set up. Here is there website.

Here is some info on the wheel change over.

Good luck with the reverse.I had it and it was more trouble than it was worth.Others have good luck with the kit. _________________ http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/YERFDOGGX150PARTS/?yguid=63829871

1. The Tomberlin Crossfire and Baja 150 use the same electrical cover as the Yerf-dog.
2. You are better off replacing the constrictive airbox with a two stage UNI filter and prefilter cover. McDonough Power Sports and Buggy Depot sell intake tract kits or you can fabricate a redneck intake from kitchen sink plumbing and couplings. With this additional air capacity, you will need to rejet the carburetor to a 125 or 130 main jet. If you are set on replacing the airbox, Buggy Depot, BMI Karts, Tomberlin or Baja can provide one that fits.
3. You should be able to fit 23-24" tires on the front as long as the front rims have 3" or less of inside offset. If you are using Buggy Depot spindles, they have longer shafts and allow 25" front tires with additional spacers.
4. APS and BMI have 4x4" (4x100mm) front hubs on 5/8" bearings. This bolt pattern is common on Polaris rear ends - I was able to use 10x8 rear rims off a Polaris quad using a 3" inside offset. I am running 22x8-10 front tires with no clearance issues. If you have the last generation of spindles from Yerf-Dog with welded spacers on the shaft, these hubs will not fit - You can get 8" hub/rims to replace the stock 6" ones from Carter Brothers or Buggy Depot.
5. I had a Tomberlin reverse in one of my Yerf-dogs and did not have trouble with it. Although it was nice to have reverse, it increased my engine sprocket from 13t to 16t resulting in higher gearing that what I wanted. If you get reverse, get the 39t axle sprocket to compensate for the larger engine sprocket. I had to play with spacers to get proper alignment between sprockets - The Buggy Depot kit will not have this problem. _________________ 08 Joyner SandViper 250

EDIT: I stepped out for a few minutes before hitting the submit button and Peter got in ahead. Instead of taking out the info that Peter has already covered, I'll go ahead and post this as is.
We have OEM airboxes in stock here, but I strongly recommend changing to a better setup. The stock airbox tends to leak around the joint between the intake tube and airbox, as well as at the filter itself. A Uni intake setup will eliminate the leaks altogether and is washable and reusable.
For front tires you will need hubs with 5/8" inner diameter bearings. 4 lugs in a 4" pattern (4 on 4) hubs and rims are the most commonly used by yerfers, I'll let others chime in on reputable sources. One thing of important note: If you have 4th generation spindles from Yerf Dog or eBay, you may need to install of a set of reinforced 3rd Gen spindles. The 4th gen spindles have a spacer machined into the wheel bolt that will cause problems when using after market wheel hubs.
Scott at Kart-Mart.com should have the electrical covers in stock. I believe Tomberlain and Baja Motorsports have compatible electrical covers available as James has mentioned. We normally carry them here but we're out of them at the time.
To check out what all is involved with the reverse install, check out the install guide:

Hey James, please keep in mind that the reverse kit you had was a very early model. I believe you were one of the first three people to receive a reverse kit actually. Many improvements in the kit and instructions have been made since. The problems with the kit that you experienced were solved long ago.
Thanks guys. _________________ Travis @ http://www.BuggyDepot.com/

Thanks guys! It really helped. The only reason I didn't mention the UNI filter set-up earlier is, I got one of those filters with the pipe extention from buggy depot but with the HP intake I put on the cart, it's a b!+%# getting the hose on and it almost feels like the air filter hose is pulling the carb down from the intake to make it fir. So, do I sacrifice the intake (put the stock one back on) for the UNI filter set-up?
I also purchased some filter oil (from a local motorsports dealer) to spray the filter with, following the directions on the can, and it got harder to start (starving for air, I assumed). The carb, I also modified with a 120 main jet, so I took the filter off and re-installed the stock one and it ran fine. I probably sprayed too much oil on there, but the can said spray until the "blue" spray came out.
If I do re-use the UNI filter, I would like to move it up high, since we mostly "mud-bog" and I agree with the kitchen drain piece at the end that someone recommended, but finding a piece of flex hose from the carb and up, is unsuccessful thus far. I thought my shop vac hose would work, but not. Any ideas there? Maybe a radiator hose?
BTW-I just ordered the spindles you guys recommended. Thanks again.

I just ordered the reverse kit from buggydepot. Should be here Tuesday. The 39t sprocket was on backorder from my order so I have to wait on that. I will let you know how it works out since this is the newer kit.

Orion,
I agree with the others to scrap the idea of replacing the stock filter box. The 'redneck' intake is a great mod for almost no money. You'll need to put back the stock rubber/aluminum intake elbow or change to a tall elbow to pass the pipe under, or over, the swingarm crossmember. Most clearance was achieved with a section of radiator hose as the coupler. Plumbing adapters were bigger and made the installation much harder. Find a hose with a 1.5 to 1.75" swell and cut just that section out of the hose.
The slight angle on the carb end was so the pipe could be angled down to clear the crossmember.
I personally never had any success raising the Uni up higher. I tried a few times but the longer tube played hell with jetting & I could never dial it in. For water & mud protection get an Outerwears to go over the Uni.
I think I got 4-on-4" hubs at BMI. They have 2 types--regular steel and some 'bling' sets from billet aluminum. I went cheap. My spindles were repaired with 3/4" bolts rather than the regular 5/8" and the bearings in these hubs can be pushed out and replaced with larger-ID bearings. Just another option...
You may get some rubbing on the frame (at full-lock) if you go larger than 19" in the front.
The rear hubs are 4x110mm and this is a real common size.

ACBlind is the master of the reverse kits on Yerf-Dogs. He went through a learning curve when he installed his. When he did mine (it's great when you're son can do this for you..), it took him 2 minutes to adjust it.
You can email him directly (adam@dierkens.com) or just PM him here. He's on just about every day.
I own Guy's old Yerf-Dog. It's a great machine. During this year's National Buggy Bash I found just about every week point someone could find. If you don't own a welder it may be helpful to get one. It comes in handy for the A-Arms, Swingarm, Spindles, Steering box connection and more..
They are a great machine to have fun in. _________________ Chris Dierkens

I bet those 3/4" grade 8 spindles are hanging in there...
(I hope)
