i forgot you were out in the desert!!! I wouldnt add a filter to the cvt... keep it stock, or put a sock over it, but dont go crazy... it just gets way too hot in there to add more plumbing to the toilet!!!
So here is some news you might be interested in (you may already know this too). I had ordered my new tie rods and rack from tomberlin, ordering parts from the CF150. Well today when I got my package, I have come to find out that the CF150 and CF150R have completely different set ups. Here is what I found out
CF150
10mm tie rod ends
10mm tie rod
12mm ball joints
10mm rack
CF150R
12mm tie rod ends
12mm tie rod
14mm ball joints
12mm rack
Since I alreay had the 14mm ball joints, and now I have the 12mm tie rods ends, Im sending back the rods and rack to get the 12mm ones from the CF150R. _________________ Baja Dune 150

yeah... I new all that already... it seems like they found the weak points early, and upgraded everything in the CF150R... You can also cross reference a lot of this stuff with the Punisher 2, which is still available through Tomberlin...
They are identical to the Dune 150, just the Tomberlin upgrades... That is what I get my parts for... The wonderful ladies at Tomberlin are really nice and helpful, and I got to know a few of them pretty well, so I get all the goodies that I need without any questions really.. Just tell them you have a punisher out of warranty and they will hook you up!!! Plus they are a heck of a lot cheaper than BAJA!!!!!
I have been working with Lori at Tomberlin and she is a big help. Even today when i got the wrong parts, she was all over it. Got a call tag to pick up the wrong ones, and already has the order placed for the corrected stuff. For as many issues that people have on here with dealers, I am proud to say Tomberlin has earned my respect as well!!
How come you haven't changed over to the new stuff? _________________ Baja Dune 150

So I didnt get all my parts I wanted to have for the weekend, so I was a little bummed. Sat I didnt even want to go to the garage, Sunday I finally went out and tinkered. Mostly I just set parts (new and old) in thier places made sure all was going to fit and work. Can't really mount anything yet. I think it helped seeing it set up though..gave me a glimps of what is coming. After all I've been staring at a frame for a few months now.
I did make a small aluminum skid plate for the brush gaurd, made a stencil for the roof panel, and measured and mounted the rear cargo net, but thats about it for progress.
Here is a sneek peek for you all:
Remember, this is not put together and still shows some old parts (shocks, seats, wheels and tires). Let me know what you think!

I made the skid out of thin aluminum piece I had from an old shop light. Just bent it around the curve then bent over and rivited it to the sides. It was really easy. I'm sure it will get bent or dented, but at least it blocks some dust from coming in the front. I will take a photo of the skid plate and send it to you tonight.
As for the cargo net, I cut up the cargo net that came in my GMC Yukon. I attached it right behind the seats, and ran it up and over the top cage bar, then ran down to cover rear rack. It fastens with 4 snaps at the base by the brake light. That way I can unsnap it and flip it up to get to the items on the rack.
Thanks again for your support and expertise John!! _________________ Baja Dune 150

Well its been a while since I have been on here and just as long since I have touched the buggy. I was one of the 5500 GMAC Mortgage employees that were let go last month, so I had to hunker down and get my arse back in gear with a job. Im now employeed and no longer in the unstable mortgage business, so I am back in action and so is the progress of the Dune.
I have been so anxious to work on it I spent all day Sat from 9am til 2am working on it. I pulled the motor out of the frame, wash and detailed every piece of the motor and put the motor back in. I finally put the 1500 clutch spring in, installed the new variator with the 9 gram rollers I already had and installed a new belt. I also took apart my carb and cleaned every inch with a q tip and carb cleaner. It had a small amount of oil from the stock valve breather set up, so I removed the stock set up and just installed a small breather on the valve cover. Put a small shim on the needle and trying a 135 jet this time. Redid my red neck intake, put the Uni and pre charger on. Installed new fan and plastic housing. Reran all new wires from the electrical box to my dash. I now have the lights on a switch so they are not always on, and prepared for the trail tech. Mounted the lights and installed new LED bulbs. Connected the steering wheel and linkage. Then connected everything back up so I can run the motor. Today I went and got some Royal Oil for it so I can flush and put clean oil in it for the test start. Tonight it should start (cross your fingers).
I still need the new rack and pinion set up, spindels to be done (had them powder coated), install brakes and pads to complete the front end. Then it will be ready to test drive!!! I haven't bought the new seats yet either, so I still need to get those but can use the stockers in the mean time. Cant wait to see what this little thing can do. After all I had only driven it MAYBE 5 times before I tore it down for the rebuild. Still will have some details to finish (trail tech dash, roof rack and stereo) but it will be drivable.
I will get some pics as soon as it is done and can be pulled out of the shop. _________________ Baja Dune 150
