Every once in awhile my 150b engine will just stop running while driving almost like it ran out of gas. I checked over the engine visually and found that the intake elbow was cracked. I replaced this (actually had a spare one) and it started right up. Thought I figured out the problem but then after a little run time it just stopped while going around the track and wouldn't restart. After it cooled down a few minutes it started right up. I have never experienced this problem before. Any ideas??

hello profaci how you been,i would check the used intake for leaks to.spray some carb cleaner or starting fluid around it and over it while idling ,if engine sound changes or engine dies out its leaking.
also pull your spark plug out and see what color it is.
i remembered that you are running a uni-filter without rejetting your carb, this might be catching up with you now.
engine getting hot and when it cools down it will start.

how long does it run before it shuts down? is there a loss of power before it shuts down?

I have already replaced the intake elbow. No leaks there. I will check the spark plug today with the engine cooled off and let you know what I find. The engine seems to bog slightly and then shut down for no reason. Like it ran out of gas. The engine is warm, at least 10 minutes of run time. When it runs it runs smooth and has a good deal of top end power.

I have had that happen with cars before. it turned out to be a bad coil. check to make sure the connections are tight also.

OK. I checked the spark plug and it looks good. light tan in color. indicating not too lean, too rich, or too hot. I had a new ignition coil that I received with the replacement engine that I never used. I replaced the coil with this new one and checked all the electrical connections while the electrical box was open. all seemed tight and connected. I ran it around our dirt track for about 10 minutes, not really pushing it too hard and it again, around one turn, bogged down slightly and stalled. I was able to restart it this time while it was hot but still this is annoying. Any other ideas?????

if it only does it going around the track then I think its running all the fuel in the bowl out. have you put a bigger fuel line on it?

It has been running around the track for 2 years now with the same size fuel line with no problems like this. What would change now? Any other ideas?
