Sat night at 130am my 8 month pregnant wife and i were laying in bed listening to the rain fall and the thunder crash. such a soothing sound Shame on you ....UNTILL FLASH BANG, sparks and bolts of electricity came shooting out the wall sockets toward the bed. scared the living heck out of both my wife and i Help and then 78 pound american bull mastiff and 65 pound puppy german shepard jumped on the bed with us cowering. i got out of bed to see if anyting cought fire. nothing was ablaze so i thought we were ok. sunday i tried to play my WII....Fried. tried to watch a movie, reciever and surround sound Fried. went to get a beer from the fridge in the garage....no power warm beer...YUCK! Give Me Beer! while i was in the garage i took one look at my buggy and told the ol girl it was going be a while before she got fixed. went to open the garage door. NOPE garage door opener motor was done for. back to old days of manualy lifting the door. dang it sucks. its the hurricane re enforced roll up type. heavy as heck. a couple thousand in damage to the electronics in the house.....ill gladly take donations to get my buggy running again. Very Happy my piston rings are bad, valves are all crusted over and spark plug hole threads are stripped out. petcock clogged with gunk. Evil or Very Mad

thanks for reading.... Shocked

I would imagine your homowners/renters insurance would take care of the lightning strike.

Own a house or rent?

Either way, get insurance, it's cheap. Lakeland, FL is the lightening capitol of the world...

Maybe you can repair some of the stuff that's broke. WII may not be that hard... There aren't that many parts to it.

Sorry about your luck.

The Wii may be an easy fix as the power supply is built into the power cord and not the console itself. You may just need to get a new power supply/cord to fix the problem.

Did you have surge protectors on any of your electronics? Many of the manufacturers will replace devices using their surge protectors if they fail.

Jamie

sorry to hear. I hope you had surge protectors if not after you purchase insurance you might wanna look into a whole house surge protector. they are a few hundred dollars but if you get fried wile under its protection the insurance will replace all the electric components in your house.
