Hi guys - has anyone tried grinding out the restrictive sleeve in the exhaust header (at engine/flange end) on a GY6. After fitting 10g rollers/1500 clutch spring and having the motor reving far higher, I would think grinding this sleeve out would help put more power up at the higher revs now being used more ??

Any comments ?

Thanks
Greg

i don't know if you will gain any power but it might help on top end speed if that is what you are looking for.
with the re-stricter in it looks like it helps on bottom end power.
taking it out will have less backpressre and loose bottom end.
looks like you are doing pretty good now with the jetting i see you have.is that a stock exhaust muffler on your buggy???
thats my thoughts, lets see what the other guys think.

It is a stock exhaust system - I have just cleaned up edges and welds to help get a good flow

JUST FOR THOUGHTS

I took my exhaust and cut the ends off and gutted the whole thing. I then took a piece of 1 1/4" ss pipe and welded in as a tip. Welded it all back together. It is louder, but it is more responsive, with this and the rejetting, new intake, new filter, springs, and 10gram rollers, and 39t sprocket this cart is far from the same as when I brought it home.

If you are going to attempt this you need to make sure you have access to a mig or tig welder. I would not attempt this with a stick welder. The muffler is extremely thin.

Surley someone out there has tried this !!

If people are willing to cut open their exhaust gut it and reweld it, I would have though the restrictor sleave would be the first thing to go.

Anyone ?
