I'm pretty sure everyone on here is sick of gas prices am I right? It is time to stand up to congress and have them give the o.k. to drill here in America, now. If we do this gas prices will drop and our economy will most likely return to normal. Just go to http://www.americansolutions.com/ , give you name and email address and then hit the sign petition button to cast it. Idea -Jerad Wink

I just wanted to urge people to go to the website and check it out. This isn't another one of those e-petitions that politicians ignore. This one has built up a lot of steam and clout and just might make a difference.

There are huge reserves of crude oil on American land that is either blocked thanks to the environmentalists or is being sat on by the oil companies to control supply and therefore, price. Unlocking the gates to these sites will put us way closer to total energy independence.

The "greenies" are tickled to death that gas prices are climbing through the roof but I'm hoping these outrageous prices (and oil company profits) will finally get the silent majority mad enough to stick a thumb in the eye of the tree huggers and drill those wells and build those refineries we need to make energy affordable again.

I just checked the website again... 1,031,425 people have signed it. Very Happy When I signed it it was about 750,000, (about a week or so ago! Wink ) I've heard that in Montana there is a huge reserve of oil and every one that lives in the area WANTS them to drill. Come on people, if you haven't done so go to the site and sign it. If you have done it tell people you work with, friends, family who ever..... let's do this!!!! Wink

I agree with you guys that we should use what we have, but I don't think that we will get energy independence with drilling alone. We need to diversify into nuclear and renewables for electricity production and leave the oil for the transportation sectors. Drilling now will likely not affect the amount of oil production now, but it will impact commodity traders and speculators which is one of the real reasons gas is so high now. I also wonder if the oil companies will be interested in pumping more oil with their profits so high now.

The Democrats are absolutely pathetic. Taxing is going to do no good. We desperately need to drill our own land. It's hard to understand why anyone would vote for Obama.

I'm so sick of hearing these a-wipes say that "we can't drill our way out of this problem". Ahh...yes we can. More oil means a greater supply, so prices will go down if we drill and there is more oil on the market. Simple economics. DRILL NOW!!!

I agree with you guys. Another thing we need to do is build more refineries. Drilling here will give us more oil, but we must be able to refine this stuff faster to give us a greater supply.

More oil exploration is needed but it takes years to ready it for production let alone refinement. Also much of the oil that is available is deeper and harder to get to, which also complicates things. All I'm saying is that don't expect that drilling starting right now is going to increase supply right now. Any reductions in price you would likely see would be related to reduced market speculation which would help cool down the rising prices in the short term. In the long term it would help supply and thus help prices.
