Bush rescinded the off-shore drilling moratorium and the per barrel price for oil went down.

Commodity speculators are driving the cost of oil up. The way to fix it isn't to put government restrictions on the speculation. The way to fix it is to put an energy plan together that makes sense.

The "float" that the commodity brokers use can be adjusted. That is one thing that the government can do that makes sense. Make they guy that is trying to sell oil at $150/bbl pay the $140/bbl he paid first instead. The way it works is, the guy gets to pay $140 for the bbl first, then before he has to send any money in for that purchase he can sell the oil first and then pay for the oil he bought. Make him do it the way I have to do it. Purchase the stuff and pay net in 30 days after I receive it. Some of these guys can go months before they have to pay anything.

This works for oil, gold, coal, steel, sugar, cattle, wheat, corn, beans, etc..

Build more Nuclear plants for power. Some countries electrical generation is done with 75% nuclear plants. We have something like 40% of our generation from Nuclear Power. Crank that up to 80% and we've got more oil.

Pickens plan is very interesting. At least he has a plan. He's the only one who I've heard of that does and I work in the Power Industry.

There's ways to do it... We just need the government and all of the special interest groups to get out of the way.

Wind power will never work they just cant make enough power. And to be honest as soon as the government subsidies are gone then all these windmills will stop spinning. I dont mind having them here for as long as they can be I get a royalty check for them each month but they arent a fix. We need nuclear power and to utilize the one resource America has a monopoly on and thats coal. Our coal reserves are the largest by many fold than any place in the world and not only is it the biggest it is the highest quality.

Theyre about to build a new coal plant near where I live. It produces more power than the entire wind farm put together and has zero emissions. We have the technical ability to make these plants very green and use a comodity that is going to be around for a very long time.

Water on the other hand I dunno about Very Happy

Coal plants don't have zero emissions. Power Plant emissions are my life. I've been doing this for 20+ years. They can be very clean. Clean Coal technology is a very good way to go. Anything to decrease our demand on foreign fuels is always a good thing.

I guess I should have said near zero. Tenaska is building it, or in talks I guess I should say. Theyll capture the carbon and use that in the oil explortaion process. Its a pretty cool plant from what I read and is extremely green. Utilizing coal is such a stigma I think that needs to be reexamined especially with todays technology. All though I am sure you know that better than I do only thing I know about is 400 cows farting methane into the air Smile

what about the people that live in the coal areas. when the coal companies blow the tops off the mountains, the enviromental impact is horrible. sure, some jobs are to be had, but it's a low paying, dangerous job. besides, when you take so much out of the earth, what's going to happen years from now. the top surface will collapse. then what. coal is not a good way to provide energy. look at Centralia, Pa.

Come look down here at all the land torn up from windmills. Where we have windmills it looks like an atomic bomb went off. Have to do something if we just say we cant all the time well just be in the same position were in now.

Youve got a nice shot of some windmills sticking above the trees but what you dont see in that picture are:

The pads they sit on.

The road work between them and used to build the farm.

The logistical equipment roads and staging areas.

Transmission line and what they had to tear down and through to put them up.

The impact on the land is insane and is not easily repaired and can not be reapired until the windmill is gone and out of service. I can take a picture of the windmills from a distance and they look graceful, drive right up to them and you see the true impact.

My point was nothing is truly impact free to the environment. I can promise you these windmills dont make a "graceful woosh woosh" they make a horendous THUMP THUMP -GRIND- THUMP THUMP. I can hear them from quite a distance and would not allow them to build them on the hills behind our house.

I hope im not comming across as a jack rear end thats not my intention just chit chatting. I dont know how they mine coal I live where there isnt any, but I do see how oil companies treat the land vs wind and Ill take oil anyday. Unfortunatley it has a limit and weve got to do something about it. I hate the windmills, hate hate hate them. Theyre ugly, theyre loud, theyre destructive but atleast it is some form of renewable energy for a short term. Hopefully we can find something to replace them. With my luck the government will just quit subsudusing them and Ill be stuck looking at them for the rest of my life.
