Hey Andy-just checked out the photos of your buggy and saw that you have a fairly long pipe to your air filter. When I was rednecking my sons' 150, I played with the length of the pipe and found that when I went longer than six inches on the pipe, performance of the engine dropped significantly. This was with a standard carb. Can't explain why, but that's the way it worked. I also know that most of the 250 riders that have gone to the 32mm pumper have said they seem to get the best performance with the filter attached directly to the carb. These are cheap things to try-maybe you'll get lucky.

I got a custom, 1 off, riser on my buggy. It has a paper gasket stuck to it when I bought it used on this site... I scraped off the old gasket and used RTV to seal it to the head, and the o ring gasket works perfectly with the billet 30mm manifold I used on top of the riser, NO seal problems... I think my only issue iwth the 32mm carb so far is getting the right jetting and tuning it just tiny bits... the machine seems to loose some power on steep hills, which makes me believe I may have to adjust the float level as well.

It keeps coming up on this site about MRP products and various other products being problematic with us and our buggies... What seems to slip EVERYONES minds on here is that MOST of MRP's products are designed and built AND SOLD for SCOOTERS!!!!! they are not offroad machines... They are not made to ride in dusty, wet, muddy, rough terrain... They were designed with street use in mind! So when it comes to tuning a MRP product or an uncommon product to the buggies, I take it with a grain a salt and just work with what is there... I know exactly where it came from and what it is designed for, and I make adjustments...

As per my riser, the rtv has held for over 2 months, with some exceptionally hard riding,a nd I am pleased with the performance thus far.. My only major concern so far is keeping the carb attached to the manifold... It has popped out on a couple occasions, but I am working out the kinks...

Andy, try and shorten the intake tube the air filter is connected to. also I dont know if you have done this already, but the long bolt that holds the motor up can be replaced with 2 short bolts, that SOMETIMES on SOME BUGGY will give the clearence needed for the carb to clear.

I cant help but be offended to the point to where if I met Andy I would love to educate him on the art of good old fationed tail spanking, give that guy a diaper and a bottle. All he needed to do was pick up that thing with buttons on it , aka phone, and call Eric. He is a personal friend of mine and the best dealer there is or ever will be. There was no point in coming on here and slamming the guy like a pre school play ground bully. And to top it off , Eric still gave advice. Shows you what kind a guy he is. Andy, grow up and act like a man and stop hiding behind that keybord, although I know thats the only time you have any guts.

Now, now, is that rhetoric really necessary usmarshalchris?

It would be my grateful and excited pleasure to meet you in person! You are really cute when you get angry! Twisted Evil

Bige,

My intake airfilter tube is approximately 12 inches. I spoke at length with Travis at Buggydepot on this. If you know him, he is a pretty high tech guy when it comes to these GY6 engines and perofrmance. Lots of hands on experience to say the least. He has run tests on the engines to optimize performance. One of the things he has determined that optimizes performance is an appropriate length of the air intake tube. I will try a shorter one to see how it runs. I appreciate the advice.

I really like your suggestion of replacing the long bolt with two seperate shorter ones. That would allow me to avoid the riser all together! I let you know how it goes. I do appreciate your help. Thank you.

yes Travis is a great guy, I had to remove that bolt on my carter talon a few years ago. the two seperate ones are a pain to do but it might work on your buggy as well.

The machine shop that made the risers can make a nice one from aluminum, but like I said it will be expencive. I will check with them next week

That's odd. I have dealed with Buggy Depot the last three years and they always suggest a 6" intake...

Eric,

I spoke with some other folks on swapping out the long bolt for two shorts. Their concern was that it would pivot less uniformly than with the long bolt instead. Overtime, this would cause an uneven wear on each pivot point compared to the same wear with the long bolt.

What are your thoughts?

Since you are only pivoting two pieces, two short bolts will function the same as one long. If your swingarm was two-piece, I could see the argument making sense.
