Took some good advice from supersoxy and Bige.

I installed a manual choke and adjusted the valves. The combination of the two make it start instantly and run smoothly now. The manual choke is great since we probably don't need fuel enrichment in our climate and especially not at 90+ degrees. The intake valve required just a slight adjustment but the exhaust required backing out about 2.5 turns to get the right clearance.

Thanks guys!

Just wonder I have a 150 Twister hammerhead (do not know the year)

How do I adjust the valves, pics, and all the info I can get to so I can check and see if they are adjusted correctly.

Thanks

Download the GY6 service manual from SpiderboxPerformance.com to adjust and troubleshoot your engine.

Sounds good I will do that, but I am thinking my engine is dead

Reasons why I think that.

1. have to pump the hell out of the gas to get it started
2. will not idle until warm, and when idleing it fluxuates have to keep adjusting the idle
3. have alot of blue smoke coming from exhaust and from the tube next to where the spark plug is.
4. From that tube also seems to be leaking an oily substance
5, smokes alot blue smoke when running

I have cleaned gas tank, new fuel lines, filter, spark plug, check choke (seems ok) cleaned carb (It is a 30mm carb, and 30 mm intake) there are no leaks, checked all elctrical and cleaned everything.

I give up

Any thoughts, or words of wisdom are encouraged...
Thanks everyone

Blue smoke means you are burning oil. Did you overfill it recently? If not the rings or cylinder are worn and need to be replaced.

No I have not run it can't get it running correctly, I bought it last weekend. Had just about no oil in it and I put some in but did not over fill it.

How hard, and what is the price to replace the piston and rings, do you need special tools? what sucks is there is noshops around here at all!

I'm ready to give up on it, I don't want to but parts seem hard to come by I find

Rings are under $20: http://www.buggydepot.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&prod ucts_id=37

A complete rebuild kit with cylinder and piston is $120: http://www.buggydepot.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&prod ucts_id=318

You will not know if the cylinder is damaged until you pull the top end apart and inspect it. The only special tool you will need is a torque wrench to put the head back on.
