To view the area on Google maps ,I just went to Google, clicked on maps at the top of the screen. A map of the USA comes up, I centered Tenn. and clicked the + sign to zoom. You will need to continually recenter Tenn and Chattanooga as you zoom. Wen you recognize the bend in the river and Hwy 27. use the Satellite view at the top of the screen to see the real picture of the ground. Then go back and forth between satellite and terrain to see the elevation change. It's really cool to see the detail that the satellite view provides. You can actually see the two tracks on some of the trails.
Glad to know we will be easing into the more difficult trails. I have never had any climbs to test the Spider on.

Yes the rear is locked. The Spider pretty much will not spin the wheels, even reving the engine and dumping the clutch. The engine sits over the rear wheels giving good traction. My only concern is the gearing, I got to almost 20 mph in 1st on the street. I just wonder about extended climbing, I have read others complain of bogging on long climbs.

My wife laid the groundwork and has now confirmed she is backing out. She is staying home to admire the baby, and having her girlfriends over while I'm not there to annoy them. My son is getting excited and wanting to check all fluids and tire pressures on the buggy.
BIGE which motel are you staying in? We have not made any reservations yet. I don't mind paying more than $29.00 a night if it is still convenient to the trails (and the bathroom and bed sheets are clean). Not to say the Acuff inn won't be clean, but I have been to cheaper motels before and cleanliness and safety were my concern. Anyway , BIGE let me know where you are staying, I believe in strength in numbers.

Looking forward to the fun, my daughter, 10 year old, got in last night at about midnight. She loves going up there. We had a good rain last weekend, but gonna be dry by now , and remember there are some places up there that are never dry . Well there is a 40% chance of rain on Friday, that would help a bunch with the dust problem.
Quick note, helmets are not required up there. But you will want goggles. The sand will be flying. Thinking about stopping by the doctors office and getting some of those fancy little mask.
Again, there are only outhouses on the mountain, there is a small general store not far away, but he is the only one around, so prices might not be pretty. There is a big BP gas station at the 155 exit also, prices have been about the same as others on the road. There is a smaller BP in jasper, on the way, that has been a couple cents cheaper, but not as easy to get in and out of, 4 trailers would do that place in, lol.
