We finally recieved my son's hockey schedule and coach says he's not planning any weekend practice. We fully expect to make this trip. One Sand Spider, one adult and one 10 year old. I need to change my screenname because I sold the 07' Spider a few months ago.
Is anyone planning to camp? How cool does it get during the evening? I have trouble sleeping while I'm sweating!
See yall there.
Clint

Wife and girl friend both coming Twisted Evil OH YEAH!!!

Glad your going to make it Clint. My 10 year old, "Little Rock", will be there, and Terry I'm just bringing my wife. I understand there is some camping at the entrance to the WMA but no hookups. PM rraland-he can probably give you more info. As far as temps., it will only be about 5 degrees cooler on top of the mountain, so don't wear a lot to sleep in Surprised .

Here are some links to motels in the area. http://www.mapquest.com/maps/accuff+Inn:jasper+tn/#a/search/l:::Jasper:TN::US:35.0742:-85. 626099:city:Marion+County/m::7:35.008128:-85.552997:0:0:/so:Accuff+Inn:::d::25:::::/e

And here's a link to some campgrounds

Watch the thread. I'll soon be posting directions to Prentice Cooper and times when we will be meeting.

BigE where are you staying? My wife says she will come and bring the reason we sold the 07 Spider, we just adopted a baby girl. Allison Elizabeth Jones will be 11 weeks old the weekend of the 21st. Lawyers want their cash before they do their work. She listed the 07' Spider on Craigslist on a sunday, a guy from texas showed up on wednesday with our asking price in cash.I am guessing we had it listed too low. I thought it would take months to sell and figured the money would come from somewhere else. I was wrong. Anyway if other girls are there my wife will come. She would like a hotel/motel with a pool. Heck, who would'ent?
See yall there.
Clint

Just got off the phone with rraland and he said the Acuff Inn has a billboard showing $29 a night. It is located at I-24 and exit 155. I'm not sure about the ammenities, but rraland says its the most convenient as far as parking trailers and getting to the park.

IMPORTANT ANNOUCEMENT

We will be meeting at the Acuff Inn at I-24 and Exit 155 Saturday Morning at 9:00 am EASTERN TIME to all drive up to the park together. We figured that way no one is as likely to get lost.

Please remember we are going to be using EASTERN TIME. The time zone line passes right through where we will be at, so it can be confusing.

I can be reached at 615-848-7338 if anyone has questions or problems.

Man I'm starting to get excited now

First I would recommend a motel, we have been hitting 90 every day, and with no hook ups, would not be a fun camp.

Second, gf, said she might hang out at the motel also, for the visiting rights, lol.

Next, Hmmmmm, oh yeah, my numbers if anyone needs directions or has questions. Mobil 863-243-1163 and Home 423-228-2315.

At exit 152, there is everything a female could need, lol. Walmart, shoneys, cracker barrel. I think there is even a shoe store.

As far as us guys, we are set there also, Taco Bell, McDonalds, Wendys, you know all the things we need to survive.

At 155 right infront of the Motel is a Western Sizzler, all you can eat buffet, so even though the ribs sound good, might be wore out from all the rideing. Just a thought.

Oh, and my 10 year old will be up from from FL.

I have been using Google maps to look at the trails in this area. Going back and forth between the satilite images and the terrain images really gives you an idea of the elevation changes. I am looking forward to this trip. The road yall refer to as Tower Dr. is called Game Preserve rd. on Google maps, are you allowed to ride buggies on this road? What is the posted speed limit? There looks like a few straights where buggies can be opened up. The roads and trails appear to be mostly sand. This will be a welcome change from the mud I have mostly been riding on. I am getting PSYCHED!
My wife has been laying the groundwork to back out of the trip. I'll just have to wait and see. Count my son and myself in.

What reference did you use to locate the area? Tell your wife she ought to come. Always good to meet new people with same interest. My wife will be there, but she probably won't be by the pool. She wants to buggy!! Very Happy Even if your wife doesn't want to buggy, there are all sorts of things to do in Chattanooga. It's a great tourist destination.

Well, let me see, yes the buggies are permitted on the main road. The posted speedlimit is 25. Good luck on that. And yes most trails are sand, if you have watched my videos, you will notice water on the trails, not thick mud, but fun to play in. We will hit some of the easier trails first, still rocks to avoid or go over but not as bad as the other side. Depending on how brave we all get, we will cross the creek and go up for some wet fun.
