That is what I did to my 150 a while ago. I put a 350 2 stroke in it with a HLNR gearbox from a Polaris atv.

Jamie,

Looks like you dropped your gearing with those rear tires. Any specific reason? I thought you had plenty of grunt in High gear.

I just found the topic from this last event and saw you and
the blazer to funny but yet so cool that you still had
fun.

Good times and I hope to join you for the next one.

Hay Tut, that tranny I got won't work with the 700. I will be getting one from Dan at RPM.

No gearing reason for the tire change, I just liked these tires a little better. Those 25" tires were doing a tune on my struts. I have yet to use low gear also. Very Happy

Oh thats too bad.

Well I can always do a Raptor 700 with a built in
Reverse atleast that way I have reverse.
And I get a 700. Just thinking outloud more
than anything while I debate on it.

Or just do my typical ways and just build smaller.

Ya Dan is great but if I am going to buy an rpm box
I think I will buy a street bike motor and go crazy.
Wink

Thanks again for the input.
Very Happy

Would you rather a CVT or manual tranny? Any idea what the hp rating is on the raptor?

No I don't know exacts it almost 770cc I think.
No idea HP.
But ya its a manual.

Auto is whats nice and I think I want to do that
for sure.
So whats the biggest auto tranny or cvt you can
get built into a bike.
Around a 400?
This would be perfect for my larger buggy and
two people.

But just thinking and bounceing input off you guys
at the same time.

Me I don't mind and my older nephews can shift but
the younger ones an automatic will be needed.

So many ideas so few dollars to build them all.
Laughing

Thanks.
Very Happy

I have a 700cc Sportsman that I am thinking of sacrificing that for a buggy. Twisted Evil You could always buy a used tranny out of a 700cc or 800cc atv. So to answer your question, there are quite a few auto tranny's to pick from.

if your willing to use an external reverse box or have no reverse, Suzuki Bergman 650 and Honda Silverwing 650 are both CVT based 650cc singles.

Really?
I did not know that about them having external cvts.
Cool.

I would just love something like a 700 then
the boys could keep up with the bikes and even the buggies on slower rides over to the hill etc.

Thanks again and good to know I have several options
to think on.

I guess in the end its just down to what we want to spend?

I can always buy an FNR from several people but at 2,000
a piece thats well a lot I think.

I would rather find a bike with some kind of fnr and motor
etc for my 2 grand.
Know what I mean?

This project may be put on hold.. actually used on a different
project actually.
Then when that project is done I can get back to this one.
So then thats cool to because then I can build a new frame even smaller maybe go pick up some 1 1/4 tbeing to lighten and shrink the car down even more.
Hmm I like it.

So we will see.

Thanks again.
Very Happy

Sorry the Silverwing is a 600cc scooter:

http://powersports.honda.com/scooters/model.asp?ModelName=Silver+Wing& ;ModelYear=2008&ModelId=FSC6008

The Bugman is 650cc:

http://www.suzukicycles.com/Products/AN650K8/Specs/Default.aspx

Both run a CVT with no reverse, so you would need an external FNR box if you really wanted reverse.

The Joyner SandSpider also uses a 650, but it is a twin cylinder manual 4-speed with reverse set up more like a front wheel drive vehicle:
