Hey,

I am looking to build an off-road buggy. Something with a roll cage. 1 or 2 seats... doesn't really matter. I was wondering if you guys could post some pictures of your recent projects that you have built.

Thanks

Jabo's car is turning out great.
Thats a nice car.
You could build one like that.

Also I have seen some frames sold in kits etc.
Or even plans on the net.
I can help you out with my style if you like it.

Or if you don't mind taking a little from everyones ideas
that you like and then blending them into your own
car go for that.

Can't wait to see what you come up with.
Wink

Jabo,
your car for your son looks very nice well done.
The Extra bracing is perfect and when I saw the first page thought the same thing (that it needed more) but after reading and seeing how well it turned out, great job!
Very Happy

Hey,
I was drawing some buggy frames on paper and drew one like I liked in particular. Thanks for all the comments and posts that you have replied. I am planning to use a school bus seat (the ones the kids sit in). It is wide enough for two people comfortably. For the frame, I am using 3/4'' black iron. Most of the pipe will be threaded then welded. Down below is a picture of what the frame will look like.

Please dont use black iron pipe to build a buggy. it isnt strong enough and unless you are an expert welder you wont get it to stick. use steel tubing

oZ.Wolf is totally right it breaks and pretty easy too.
I remember thinking I was trick for adding some ramps
to the back of my trailer.
I used Black pipe with threads so I could make my ramps
lower up and down on the threaded fittings.
So I threaded in the ramps but not super tight and welded
those onto my trailer.
Pretty funny when I went to pull my car on and the ramps just tore right off?!
The welds held to my steel trailer but a huge chunk of the black pipe and the weld stuck but the pipe itself just tore
apart and my ramps fell onto the ground.

Sorry but after that I would never build a buggy out of it.
Its just not safe.

Sad

Use steel tubeing as recommended.
Keep up the good work and keep working on those drawings
and ideas.
You should draw like two or three plans and then pick the one you like best.

Wink

Well I was going to use it than you guys gave me that important information. I knew someone who built a buggy out of that it it held up great and he flipped it about half a dozen times. I found a source for some pipe but didn't have black iron. They had 1" condo so i took that and began welding right away. Thanks for everything that you posted. Found it all very helpful.

Thanks
