I own a 2007 250SS Hammerhead buggy and have noticed that my CVT cover over time has been gouged by the suspension part in the photograph. Today it wore a hole through the cover. I do not ride in mud or water.....intentionally anyone. Should I be worried about this hole? Anyone else had this problem with their buggy? Click to view pics as I can not seem to get them to post.
Fuzz-Buggy, I think there was an earlier post about this problem with the location of the rear sway bar mounts. I don't know if anyone has resolved the problem yet, but I have the same wear problem on my 07. I've actually thought of moving the mounts out about a half inch or so just for the clearence. I haven't wore thru yet but it's getting pretty deep. _________________ 2007 HH 250 SS, 135 Main Jet, Uni Filter, Champion 2500lb winch, Battery upgrade

Yeah, there's multiple folks on here with that issue, including me. Nothing to worry about and I didn't do anything to correct it. I just live with a gouge in the CVT cover. Mine didn't abtually go through the CVT cover, though. You may need to do something about that like move the rear stabilizer link. Are you still under warranty? _________________ Ron

I am not so much worried about correcting the mount location. The only real reason I posted this was to ask if I should be worried about the small hole in my CVT cover? Maybe I should just think of it as more ventalation
I would probably put a little JB Weld on that hole as low as it is, just in case you do come up on that water hole or creek crossing. You'd be prtty ticked if you got stuck out on the trail due to water getting to your belt, it will also keep the hole from getting any bigger. _________________ 2007 HH 250 SS, 135 Main Jet, Uni Filter, Champion 2500lb winch, Battery upgrade

I had this same problem on my HH. With the help of a friend who can weld, we fixed the issue. Refer to the attached photo of your set up...
We cut a "wedge" into the sides of the connecting link (green triangle) with an angle grinder fitted with a thin cutting disc, bent the link outwards slightly to close the gap created by the wedge, then welded her all back up. Done!
This gives me just a few mm of clearance. Yours is very bad because your link is actually bent in towards the cover quite noticeably. If you or someone you know can weld, it's an easy fix. Try giving the top of the link a whack with a hammer to straighten it up some. (take it easy with the whacking). This might improve it somewhat before you take to it with an angle grinder.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Beetle.

The sway bar link on mine clears the cover but the swingarm hits it. I tried moving the swimgarms to the other set of holes where the seatbelts mount but when I drove it it just didn't feel right for some reason so I put 'em back. I'm planing to mod the arm so it will clear.
I bent my sway bar pretty bad so I took it off. It does make a difference, allot more body roll. I'm surprised it helps as much as it does as flimsy as it is. It's ridable without it and if you're not too aggressive you wont even miss it. after I rolled mine I straightened it out and put it back on. _________________ HH250ss- aftrmarket exhaust, 300EX carb, 22x7x10 holeshots on front 22x11x10 mudlites on rear
