hi everyone. i am new to this forum and dune buggies. i live in south louisiana where we have levees and mud to drive over and thru. i drove a 250cc last week and was hooked. i have been researching, but the hp and torque info etc. is so confusing. so i need advise as to the best one to buy. there is so much info and spec, i get overwhelmed. i want to buy a 150cc that can climb the levee and go thru mud with 2 small adults riding. also i am a female, only 5' tall and i cant reach the pedal on some of these karts. the one i drove, my toes were barely touching the pedal and the seat was far from the steering wheel for me.
i have been reading the posts on this site and everyone seems so friendly and ready to help. i have spent hours on the net checking out the karts, but too many, too much info and not enough knowledge on my part. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks christie Very Happy

Welcome to buggynews Christie!
What is your budget and do you have any width restrictions?

Welcome fellow Louisianian!

As far as local dealers. I know we have a Carter dealer in Hammond. The Talon 150 is $2200 I believe, assembled and they deliver and provide a 6 month warranty.

Tnegg was our local Blade dealer but I do not see him listed under Blade's dealer locator anymore. His carts were around $2500 assembled and delivered.

Other than those 2 dealers I have not found anyone around here.

You could mail order one but there are risks with the "lowest price" sites. Non-existent support and warranty. Some people did not even receive the correct buggy.

The dealers who post on the forums here are the exception to this. You can get a few price quotes from them. Awesomebuggy.com does have a few around that price.I have been looking at the Jet Kart 150 at powersportsgalaxy.com but I havent made up my mind yet. Getting close.

I have been riding around on my brother in laws YerfDog 150 for a while and it goes through a lot of stuff, makes it up the levees and has gone through some nasty mud. The engine has enough power for getting up our levees. The 250 will have more power though but they are also more expensive.

HI Very Happy I have a hammerhead 150,has been great for me. With no real problems. Did a few mods and it climbs pretty much any hills I point it at. Even beat a stock 250 up a long sand hill. Hope This helps and welcome to BN

Hey Christie!! Welcome to the wonderful world of Buggies Very Happy !! Every one hear knows I'm raceist, atleast towards Dazon, TEAM913 just got a Dazon 150 and can concur the power/pull of that little monster. Other than that, I'd take a look at the Blade 150 or the HH 150. For the price range you're asking you could see if you can get a hold of a good used one somewhere down there. Does anybody know what ever happened to that one dealer from Louisiana, I just can't remember the name of him??? I got my clutch from him, haven't seen him on here in a while.

James

Tnegg was the dealer in LA. Nobody read my post above? Rolling Eyes

I am not sure if he is still doing buggies I went to get his phone # off of Blade's website and there are no dealers showing in LA at all. We do have a Carter dealer in Hammond. I found a pawn shop selling Roketa's but would be wary of service/support y'know? Not many used ones around here at all.

This guy just posted about selling his Carter and he is in LA.

She said her budget was $1500-$1800 so any new Dazon, Hammerhead or Blade is overbudget.

Also cmsavage watch going up and riding on levees. A lot of levee riding is not allowed with powered vehicles. I do have a small levee by me and they are ok as long as you take it easy and dont tear up the sides and do your hard riding in the woods. After the storm they are taking levee maintenance seriously!

I did have a cop stop and tell me to make sure to keep it quiet in the neighborhood and check to see if we were messing up the levee once. I pointed out to him that any ruts and damage to the levee was easily recognizable to have been made by the grasscutting tractors they use. You could not even see where we were riding. He agreed with me and then asked where I got the buggy! Very Happy

thanks crazed for the info. will check out the carter for sale. the levee where we rode is a small levee and we dont cut up the area. more recreational riding, but would like to get up the levee in a 150 buggy. am looking at the explorer 150 from awesomebuggy and the sahara 150 from power sport galaxy. are these good buggies and good online dealers?
